1964-08-27 - Plan Commission - Minutes August 27, 196L. ` Alcott School Niwe PUBLIC HEARING FOR A VARIATION OF THE FENCING ORDINANCE PRESENT: George Krug, Alex Stasal., Charles Wilhelm, Edward Fabish. Visitors: Ed Janus. Meeting called to order at 8:10 P.M. Mr. Marshall 1ohnson of 524 Bernard Drive had asked for this public hearing in order to acquire the approval of a 42" high chain link fence ex- tending beyond the front of his house to his sidewalk. Mr. Johnson could not be present because of his employment hours conflicting with the hearing. Mr. Edward Janus, a neighbor, helped state Mr. Johnson's case. Mr. Johnson's house adjoins the Alcott School and his property offers an ideal short cut for the children to and from school. Besides ruining his grass and shrubs, some children have scribbled on his house, including some obscenities. There was also the use of a can of spray paint on his home. The commission, before the meeting, looked over the property in question and concur that the temptation to short cut across the property would be hard to resist. . Alex Stasal made the motion to recommend the approval of a variation in the fencing ordinance so as to allow Mr. Johnson of 52L Bernard Drive to construct a chain link fence )12" high and extend to his front sidewalk for reasons of extreme hardship. George Krug second. All in favor. George Krug made the motion to adjourn the public hearing. Alex Stasal second. All in favor. Hearing adjourned at 5:30 P.M. Edward Fabish Sec.
