1999-10-25 - Village Board Committee of the Whole - Minutes MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE OF THE VILLAGE BOARD,VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE,HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS,50 RAUPP BOULEVARD, BUFFALO GROVE,ILLINOIS ON MONDAY OCTOBER 25,1999 CALL TO ORDER President Hartstein called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M. ROLL CALL Roll call indicated the following present:President Hartstein;Trustees Marienthal,Reid,Braiman,Glover and Berman. Trustee Hendricks was absent. Also present were: William Balling,Village Manager;Phil Versten,Administrative Assistant; Scott Anderson, Assistant Finance Director;Robert Giddens,MIS Director;and Police Commander Steve Balinski. LEADERSHIP FORUM President Hartstein announced that a Community Roundtable will be held at the Village Hall at 7:30 P.M. on October 28, 1999;this will be the first of many of these meetings planned for the future,and will give members of the community an opportunity to meet with the Village Board,as well as other public bodies in the community in an informal setting. CIVICS FORUM The Village Clerk presented a brief background on the Civics Forum and explained the goal of the Civics Forum. STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL Mr. Giddens introduced the topic to be discussed by the students from Stevenson High School, Technology Cost Issues in the Delivery of Public Service. The students then presented their fmdings and answered questions from the Board. BUFFALO GROVE HIGH SCHOOL Commander Balinski introduced the topic to be discussed by the students from Buffalo Grove High School,Impact of Domestic Violence on Adolescence. The students then presented their findings and answered questions from the Board. WHEELING HIGH SCHOOL Kim Cashmore introduced the topic to be discussed by the students from Wheeling High School,Aggressive Skate Facilities. The students then presented their fmdings and answered questions from the Board. Certificates were presented to each of the students and they were all thanked for their participation in the Civics Forum. ADJOURNMENT Moved by Braiman,seconded by Glover,to adjourn the meeting.
