MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARTS COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF
BUFFALO GROVE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 50 RAUPP BOULEVARD, BUFFALO
GROVE, ILLINOIS ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2017
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by
Approval of Minutes
A. Arts Commission - Regular Meeting - Oct 11, 2017 7:00 PM

Old Business
A. Review Halloween Yard Decorating Contest
The commission requested that fewer pictures be submitted with entries. They likewise
directed staff to work with the communications team to include the contest results in the
Village New next year.
B. Event Committee Discussion
The committee with attempt to meet once the holiday season is over.
New Business
A. Discussion of Community and Group Outreach
The commission would like to reach out to members of the Arts Community to an
upcoming meeting to discuss areas that the commission could potentially partner. A list
will be presented at the January meeting and they will be invited to the February or March
meeting.
B. American Enterprise Bank Reception
The reception will be held on 11/16 and all the commissioners will be reminded before
the event.
C. New Ideas
Several new ideas were discussed. These included the hosting of an event to go with the
Halloween Yard Decorating Contest. The commission also discussed a banner/fire
hydrant painting contest. Staff was directed to gather information from Legal Counsel to
insure no violations of the First Amendment.
Village Report
A. Community Fund Update
Staff provided an updated regarding the ongoing discussions with the Lake County
Community Foundation.
