Old Business
Update on Sculpture Garden
Sandy received an update from Skokie regarding how their sculpture garden is funded and
organized. The commission decided to schedule a time in the future to visit and tour the
garden.
Village Board 501c3 Update
The 501c3 will be discussed during the 5-2-2016 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Textile Update
There were six entries. Sandy, Sharon, and Alan agreed to judge the entries.
Dance Competition Update
Staff had received no contact from Mr. Mazur.
Band Concert Volunteers
Alan asked for volunteers to help at the upcoming band concert at Stevenson High School.

New Business
Recommendations and Acceptance of the Sub Committee Report
Fred reported the discussion of the subcommittee to the commission. The subcommittee
recommends a series of focused small events that make up a lager event for the summer of
2017. This event would be located in and around Town Center. The subcommittee will reach
out the events contractor to assess the feasibility of the event and their interest.
Recommendations and Annroval of a Landscapina Contest
The commission decided to move forward with a 2016 Landscaping Contest. The contest will run
through June 6th and judging will take place on the 18th. Staff will begin publicizing the event. c
Recommendations and Approval of a Halloween Decoration Contest c
The commission agreed to move forward with the planning of a Halloween lawn decoration
contest. This event could incorporate a window painting component. Staff will work with the CL
C
Community Development Department to make sure that all village codes are followed. Judging <
for the Halloween contest will take place on October 22nd.
New Commissioner Recruitment
A call for new commissioners will be put out by staff.
New Idea Brainstroming
This item was tabled because of time constraints.
Village Report
Band Update
The band has two up coming concerts on June 15 and July 13. These will be marketed as "An
Evening of Art." Sam Ash Music will be sponsoring programming for the event that the
Commission will be endorsing. Fred made a motion that was seconded by Alan which stated that
the commission will support and endorse the an interactive music event in conjunction with Sam
Ash Music. All were in favor but Lynn and Shari, whom left the meeting during this item's
discussion.
