The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Elliott Hartstein

Old Business
A. New Commission Members
Jessica Liefer was in attendance as a potential commissioner. She was given the
information on how to apply via the village's web page and was excited to help.
B. Sculpture Garden Update
Commissioner Greenberg had not received any communication from Skokie regarding
their park.
C. Dance Festival Update
No update for the dance festival
D. Textile Arts Update
More publicity has gone up and judges have been selected. A judging form will be
created. The deadline for submission was extended to the 15th of April.
E. 501 c3 Update
This project will be tabled until the Village Board has a chance to discuss it at an up
coming COW.
New Business
A. Park District Discussion
Park District Executive Director, Ryan Risinger attended the meeting to discuss methods
for collaboration.
The following topics were discussed:
-Sculpture garden around the bike trail
-Opportunities for the band to play, such as before movie night
-Support of the Dace Festival

-Space in the CAC for an Artist League Pop up
-Co-sponsoring events such as an hands on art program
-Having a permanent park district representative on the commission
B. 2016 Landscaping Contest
The commission voted to move forward with the contest in 2016. Commissioner
Nudelman inquired if the contest should be expanded to businesses. The commission
reached the consensus that the contest only be for residents. The commission decided
that it would take place in the early summer with the judging taking place the second
week of June.

A sub -committee was formed to discuss the concept and to make recommendations to
he commission. The sub -committee consists of Fed, Sharon, Steve, Alan, Barbara, and
Jessica.
Village Report
A. Band Update
Adjourn
The band's upcoming concert is on the 24th of April at 7:00pm and they are looking for
volunteers.
The summer concert series will be at Willow Stream Park at 7:00pm. The Symphonic
Band will perform on June 15 and the Jazz Band on July 13.

The committee took a concept level approach to the event planning by broadly discussing may
facets of the potential event.

The intent and purpose of this event will be to provide a family friendly event that will allow people Q-

to interact as a community and share in multiple 30-40 minute performance showcases.
Time of Year
Several times of year were discussed however, a one day event to kick off the summer the
weekend before, during, or after Memorial Day was decided upon.

Possible areas that are close together and walk -able:
Town Center
Rotary Green
St. Mary's Church
CAC
Types of Entertainment
This event will allow people to interact as a community and share in multiple 30-40 minute
showcases. Examples of which might include, but are not limited to, improve comedy, short films,
musical performances, and visual art demonstrations .
Event Planner
Village staff will reach out to the Event Planner to assess their interest in planning the event.
