Arts Commission - Regular Meeting - Jan 13, 2016 7:00 PM RESULT: ACCEPTED [UNANIMOUS] MOVER: Fred Weissman, Vice Chairman SECONDER: Alan Nudelman, Commissioner AYES: Weissman, Bulmash, Ginsberg, Greenberg, Herman, Nudelman ABSENT: Lynne Schneider, Sharon Borstein, Fran Sachs Dance Festival Presentation Mr. Mazur gave an over view of his vision for a ethnic dance festival. He asked the commission for assistance with working with other units of government for transportation and locations. Old Business Textile Arts Contest Commissioner Nudelman is excited for the contest and requested that the contest be announced via social media. New Business Park District Discussion The discussion was tabled to next meeting. Big Project Brainstorming The commission discussed the logistics of exploring a sculpture garden like the one in Skokie. Commissioner Nudelman suggested "hands on arts" programs and children's concerts. Commissioner Weissman suggested a ethnic festival that focuses around food. The commission discussed the possibility of a winter festival during the holiday season similar to the festival in Evanston. Packet Pg. 2 3.A 02/ 10/2016 Village Report Commissioner Nudelman provided a Band update. The band's upcoming April 24th concert will no longer have a reception for their 15th anniversary. The commission was requested to be at the next Village Board meeting to present the strategic plan and the commission future projects. Chairman Hartstein requested that all commissioners be on the look out for new potential members.
