to the Village of Buffalo Grove 1975 -2009

Whereas, Battalion Chief Paul Tierney joined the Buffalo Grove Fire Department Paid-
on-Call force as a Firefighter in March of 1975 and served the community and Department as an
Emergency Medical Technician,Paramedic,and Company Engineer;and
Whereas, Battalion Chief Paul Tierney was hired as a full time member of the Buffalo

Grove Fire Department in July of 1981; was certified by the Office of the State Fire Marshal as a
Firefighter III in September of 1981; as an Instructor III u Septemberof 1990; as a Fire Prevention
> Officer I in April 1985 and'

Whereas, ° Battalion Chef Paul Tierney was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in May"
1989 and promoted to Captain m May 1991 He served the Department as Training Officer from
October of 1989 until May 1996 �nMay#of J,996x he was assigned as Shift Commander. He was
promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief mVlay of 2002 and ---certified by theOffice of the State

Department on January 2, 2009 after:33 years of serving the Deparhnent,'Village, community and
