The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Paige Donnelly gave an update on Irwin Cohen. He is doing better again and presently does not
need blood or platelets.
The December Blood Drive will be held on December 9, 2000 from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the
Alcott Center.
To get a better response from Village employees it was suggested that we offer donuts to the
village department that donates the most pints of blood. This notification will go out in form of an
email to all village employees. In the future we may try a competition between Police and Fire, or
between B.G. Fitness and Highland Park Health and Fitness.
Life Source was not present to give an update.
Life Source will continue to do the calling to perspective donors to avoid duplication or calling
people are not eligible to donate yet.
A new location for the next drive (March 10, 01) is being looked into. B.G. Fitness was
suggested however they were previously contacted and did not seem to be interested in having a
drive there. Trustee Johnson will look further into this. Highland Park Health and Fitness was
also suggested as a possible site.
Trustee Johnson also is going to check into the Volunteer Services Commission to try and
coordinate blood drives in the community.
Paige Donnelly voiced a concern over the lack of commission members. The commission is down
4 members presently and may lose one more next year. Trustee Johnson will speak with the
Village Manager to get information from the talent pool for possible new members.
