❖ Sign-Up for September 1, 2012 Blood Drive
❖ Dates for meetings and drives for the remainder of 2012 and 2013:
August 8, 2012 meeting for September 1, 2012 blood drive
November 14, 2012 meeting for December 1, 2012 blood drive
February 13, 2013 meeting for March 2, 2013 blood drive
May 8, 2013 meeting for the June 1, 2013 blood drive
August 14, 2013 meeting for the August 31, 2013 blood drive
November 13, 2013 for the December 7, 2013 blood drive
It was noted that the third drive for 2013 would actually fall on August 31, 2013 instead of
the first Saturday in September. It was agreed to keep this drive the same weekend as
Buffalo Grove Days.
❖ Review tasks for Upcoming Drive
Cookies— Doug will call and Jinjin will pick up.
Bagels— Debi will check with Kelly to see if she can call and pick up the bagels.
Green Bin —Julie with bring the bin as well and the Thank You cards.
Newspapers—Debi will check with Arla to ensure that she can bring the newspapers.
Mike—call Jets Pizza and secure 100 pizza box coupons. Mike will also arrange for lunch to
be donated for the LifeSource staff from Jetts.
Posters— Flyers—were distributed.
Media — Debi will issue press releases in the local newspapers. Julie will add the blood drive
information to both the E-News and the Police Blotter. A slide has been created to be aired
on Channel 6. An announcement should be included in the next water bill as well.
Debi advised that again for this year for the BG Days drive there will be a t-shirt given away
to all blood donors. This year's t-shirt is sponsored by American Enterprise Bank. 125 t-shirts
were ordered. The annual t-shirt promotion will continue every year going forward.
❖ LifeSource update:

The goal for the September 1 drive is 90. There were 86 units collected at the June 2, 2012
drive.
Promotions for upcoming drives were discussed. Debi would like to see a gift card donated
to be raffled off for the December, 2012 drive. The gift card should be substantial such as
$100.00 or two $50.00 gift cards.
A table will be available for PNC Bank if they attend the drive. At this time, we are not sure
if they will be there.
Julie advised that she will update the email list with the email addresses collected at the
June drive when she sends out the email blast. Julie also advised that she created a power
point slide to be shown on Channel 6 promoting the September drive. Debi advised that the
BG Fitness Center has a large electronic screen that is used to display information.Julie will
email Trustee Terson to see if the slide can be shown on the screen at the Fitness Center.
Debi stated that last year for the BG Days drive there was a large banner that was displayed
along Lake Cook Road promoting the drive. Julie will ask the sign shop if they still have that
banner and if it can be displayed again this year.
Joanne advised that the t-shirts are promoted on the posters. She will also be sending out
postcards to the 60089 and 60004 zip codes.
Joanne will compile the number of donors that donated at donation centers using the BG98
code for LifeSource's fiscal year, which runs July 12011 to June 31, 2012.

Julie will get four new table clothes prior to the September 2 drive. She will also see about
getting a new knife or bagel cutters to cut the bagels. Julie will also secure a tip for the Jett's
pizza delivery drive. The pizzas are donated for the LifeSource staff, however, at the last
drive, the delivery driver was not happy that he did not receive a tip. One of the
Commissioner's gave the drive a tip. It was agreed that $10.00 should be sufficient.
Joanne advised that the St. Mary Parish blood drive was cancelled. St. Mary will most likely
be holding their fall drive.
Debi or Julie will check with the Trustee Liaisons to see if they have any ideas about
soliciting a gift card for the December drive. Debi will check with Dominick's to see if they
would be interested in donating a gift card to be raffled.
Joanne advised that she may be interested in securing an additional room at the Alcott
Center to be used for screening donors.
