Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Robyn Kove, representing the Highland Park Hospital Health & Fitness Center, presented a check
in the amount of$1,000 (Harmonic sponsor) for the BG Symphonic Band. Thankyou Robyn/
Sponsorship.
1) Letters were mailed to all business participants of the Buffaloes on Parade Program.
2) Letters were also mailed to each Buffalo Grove business with a license.
3) Ghida indicated that letters would be sent to other potential sponsors, outside Buffalo Grove.
These businesses were selected randomly based on their close proximity to Buffalo Grove, and
their operation in music or arts. Bonnie, Ilene, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Susan agreed to follow-up
and telephone the business owner about sponsorship after the new year.
4) Everyone was given a sponsorship flyer and encouraged to obtain sponsors for the Band.
5) Ghida indicated that Mark Esposito, owner of Pastabilities agreed to serve as sponsor for the
Band, although he was interested in providing in kind contributions such as gift certificates. It was
agreed that his services would be very welcome for the VIP reception prior to the first performance.
This function would serve as an opportunity to recognize the sponsors for their contributions to the
Band. Ghida will follow-up with Mark in this regard. Details of the reception will be discussed at the
next meeting - date, time, location, other logistics.
Liaison to the BG Symphonic Band. Bonnie Gold agreed to serve as liaison between the Arts
Commission and the Symphonic Band.
First Performance. Scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2002 beginning at 7:00 p.m. A two-hour
performance will be coordinated.
Communication. The group discussed communication methods between the Arts Commission and
the Band. It was suggested a couple of liaisons participate for each arts program. In regards to the
Band, Bonnie and Linda agreed to serve as liaisons to the Band. Bonnie will serve as primary
contact, although Linda may assist in the communication and reporting.
Marketing - Robyn indicated that publicity is expected by the Daily Herald and Pioneer Press. The
Edgge Magazine has also agreed to consider an article in their next magazine.
Bruce suggested that a rehearsal is recorded and re-played on the Village's public access channel.
Information can be placed on the monitor that the music being played is by the Buffalo Grove
Symphonic Band.
It was also suggested that the Band perform and/or sell tickets at the Senior Expo, a joint program
between the Village of Buffalo Grove and Park District, April 23, 2001. Ghida will inquire about
obtaining a booth where representatives can sell tickets to the Band performance, and also about
the possibility of the Band performing at the Expo. This information will be shared with the Band at
their next Board meeting.
