Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Susan provided the following report from the last Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band Board Meeting:
Recording performance. The band expressed an interest in recording the concert on 4/28/2002.
Ghida indicated that Unique Video, the Village's cable contractor has been advised to provide a
cost estimate for recording the performance and providing full audio coverage. Further information
will be forthcoming.
Library space — A file cabinet was ordered and is already in place at the community center. The
Band Board has been given access to the Center; a sign-in/out form was given to the Police
Department so access can be granted. Identification will be required.
Senior Expo — The group discussed performance at the Senior Expo. There was concern about
getting musicians to attend a daytime performance given their job demands; plus transportation of
equipment would need to be coordinated.
The group expressed interest in performing at the following venues:
✓ Rotary Concert Program (Thursday—June/July)
✓ Park District Lawn Chair Lyrics (Tuesday—June/July)
✓ BG Days — Labor Day weekend.
✓ Performance with the Mt. Prospect Band.
✓ Consider Wheeling HS as another venue for performances if Stevenson or BG are booked.
✓ Atrium of the Indeck Building. Susan spoke to the manager and it was suggested that the Band
review the space. Saturday or Sunday evening. The parking lot is 70,000 sq. ft.
Association of Concert Bands — membership obtained; $50.00 per year.
Next Board Meeting - next Thursday evening before rehearsal. Typically the Band Board meets on
the first Thursday of the month.
Jim indicated the Band's greatest need is access to equipment. Extremely pleased and
appreciative with the support of the Village, Arts Commission, sponsorship, rehearsal space,
marketing, and more.
S onsorshi - Ghida provided an update on the budget and "band-aides":
