Welcome
The meeting began with an orientation for all volunteers of the BG Invitational Fine Art Festival.
Amy Amdur provided an overview of the festival and volunteer responsibilities. Linda welcomed
the commission members and special guests. The meeting began at 7:10 p.m.

Motion by Greenberg, second by Strauss. Motion carried.
Chair Report
✓ Linda provided information regarding a letter that Ghida and Linda received from Howard and
Jim following the VIP reception and performance at the Rotary Village Green. The Band is very
appreciative of the Arts Commission's support.
✓ A wine tasting was coordinated on Saturday at Valentino Vineyard. Mr. DiTommaso will be
providing a small display of the "Buffalo Grove" wine at the festival. No alcohol will be sold or taste
testing offered — only the display and promotional material for the vineyard will be available.
✓ The Lincolnshire Art Festival was outstanding.
Commissioner Reports
No report.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Band Board Report.
• Bonnie reported that the musicians greatly enjoyed performing at the Rotary Village Green
concert. Commission members that attended reiterated the amazing performance that Howard
conducted and everyone participated in.
• The focus of the next Board meeting will be sponsorship.
• The Band will participate in National Night Out on August 6, 2002. The program is coordinated
by the Buffalo Grove Park District and the Village of Buffalo Grove in an effort to heighten crime
and drug prevention awareness; generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts and
strengthen neighborhood spirit and community relations. The event will be held at Willow Stream
Park.
Sponsorship - Ghida provided an update on the budget and "band-aides". Since the last meeting,
$300 was received as part of the payment from Rotary to perform at the 6/27 concert. A total of
$1,230.96 is in the Band budget.
Upcoming performance schedule:
✓ Rotary Concert Program, June 27, 2002. 7:00 p.m. —9:00 p.m. $300. Confirmed.
✓ Park District Lawn Chair Lyrics, July 30, 2002. 7:00 p.m. $200. Confirmed. Joint performance
with BG singers.
✓ Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival, July 28, 2002. Confirmed.
✓ BG Days —Saturday, August 31, 2002. 3:30 p.m. —4:30 p.m. $200. Confirmed.
✓ Fall concert. October 26, 2002 — Buffalo Grove High School. Entrance time, 5:00 p.m., 8:00
p.m. start. 2 hour performance. Ticket prices will be $5.00 advance, $7.00 at the door; seniors and
students with I D. $5.00.
✓ May 4, 2003, Sunday, Stevenson High School, 3:00 p.m.
BGHS Performance.
Tickets for the BGHS performance will be available for sale at BG Days.
VIP Reception
✓ The VIP Reception was excellent. Special thanks to everyone that assisted with every aspect of
this program.
Band Boosters/Band-Aides. It was recommended a group of interested individuals serve as
band-aides or band boosters. The individuals would work the staff table at performance, assist
with sponsorship, and help promote the Band. Bonnie will talk to the Band Board about this issue.
Buffalo Grove Fine Arts Invitational
Valentino Vineyard - "Buffalo Grove" wine. A status report was provided to the Arts Commission
concerning the "Buffalo Grove" wine label. Information about the vineyard will be available at the
festival; empty bottles will be displayed and people will be able to purchase
Commission information will be displayed at the Village's booth at the Art Festival. Commissioner's
signed-up to work the shifts as detailed below. Everyone should wear their yellow AC polo.

Buffalo Grove Days
It was recommended that water bottles or water bottle holders be sold at BG Days that featured the
"Arts in Buffalo Grove", or the list of all concerts in 2002/2003. Bonnie will talk to Len Gold about
getting cost estimates. It was recommended we obtain a cost estimate for approximately 300
pieces. A sample of options will be sent to the Commission via e-mail for a polling. Fred will
create the logo and forward to Ghida.
Village Report
Nothing further.
Other Business
Linda reported that she and Ghida met with Ray Jagert, an individual interested in forming a
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Orchestra. Mr. Jagert is extremely organized and provided a
comprehensive report; the report is available upon request. He has proposed a 6 concert series,
the establishment of a Board, and other factors associated to the establishment of the orchestra.
He has been invited to the August 14, 2002 meeting to make a brief presentation.
Meeting Schedule
. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:00 p.m. AC meetings will be
held on the second Wednesday of each month - unless otherwise noted. Meetings will be held at
Village Hall, second floor conference room, unless noted.
. The meeting in September will be held on the 4th since several activities will be planned on
September 11th in remembrance of 9/11/2001.
Motion to Adjourn — motion made by Kove, second by Pervos. Motion carried.
The meeting concluded at 9:30 p.m. Linda thanked the members for their attendance and input.
