Holiday Performances
A total of$728 has been raised thus far from the two holiday concerts.
The next holiday performance will be Sunday, 12/14 at 6 pm at Northwest Assembly of God in MP,
Kensington &Wolf Road.
May 16th performance —change of date!
It was noted that the performance date at Stevenson High School was change to May 16, 2004 so
the Band could utilize the larger auditorium at SHS. Special thanks to Susan Mann for
spearheading this venue; a great deal of contact and follow-up was made in order for the Band to
utilize this performance location. The site will hold 1200 attendees.
Sponsorship - Ghida provided an update on the "band-aides" and expenditures. A copy of the
budget was distributed and is available upon request.
Performance schedule:
✓ 12/14 - Assembly of God, Mt. Prospect, 6:30 p.m.
✓ 5/16/04 —Sunday. Second Annual Spring Concert. SHS. "Different Forms of Art is Portrayed
in Music".
Gayle inquired who was coordinating the kids artwork presentation. Howard noted that Allison was
coordinating this program with Susan Mann, AC and Principal of Meridian Middle School.
Band Survey
Ghida stated that a total of 20 surveys have been received, plus one typed letter from band
members. Again, the purpose of the survey was to obtain feedback from the band members so the
program could continue to excel. Ghida is compiling the survey results, then will send an overview
to the Commission, as well as interested band members via e-mail and US mail, as appropriate.
Art League
Lori Boxer presented a tentative meeting plan for 2004 and start-up information for the Art League.
A written report was distributed to attendees.
• A logo was proposed. The Art League logo incorporates the Village logo and various mediums
of art.
• A mailing database has been established of aspiring and professional artists.
• Plans were presented to design a membership card in business card format. Members of the
art league would be able to receive discounts at participating art stores.
• Membership dues would be $35 for individual members ($30 for seniors and students with ID);
and $60 for family membership ($55 for senior couples). Members would receive discounts/free
invitations to workshops and member shows.
• The two local libraries would be contacted so exhibits could be set-up. A workshop would also
be coordinated at each library. For example, BG Artists Peter Patterson would provide a blowing
glass demonstration; Artist Lori Boxer might provide a demonstration on oils. Press releases
would be issued to local newspapers.
• Monthly planning meetings would be coordinated prior to Commission meetings. Meetings
would be held at the Village's youth/community center. Programs would also be coordinated for
"open studio" time. If a slop sink is needed, another site would be sought. The youth/community
center would be used for programs that would require of set-up, maintenance and clean-up. The
purpose of these programs is for artists to network, learn from each other, and promote their work.
• Artist Dr. Larry Nierman, BG resident, would be the first to display his work (acrylic abstracts); it
is recommended that his work be displayed at Village Hall at the post office.
Michelle recommended that artwork be displayed at public places, rather than places that require
memberships, i.e. fitness centers, since only a limited clientele is present. Fred suggested
displaying various artwork at Hamilton Partners' office buildings.
"Talent Cafe" — February 20, 2004, 7:30 — 10:00 p.m., at eSkape.
Gayle reported that a meeting was coordinated recently with eSkape representatives; attendees
included AC members, youth, and high school reps. The facility has a portable stage that would be
available. The food packages were provided; it was recommended that the basic package be
offered in an effort to keep costs low. For pizza, pop, and facility charges, the cost would be $10
per person. It was agreed that one Friday per month would be ideal. The kick-off date is
tentatively scheduled for February 20, 2004.
The youth representatives were designing the sign-up sheet; performers would sign up at BG or
SHS Student Activities Center, or at Village Hall — there would not be any charge to perform. All
attendees would be charged $10 for the event (including performers). Michelle offered to contact
the creative team at her company to develop a logo or clipart; the Village is drafting a flyer for the
program.
The program would be available for youth age 14-21 years of age. It was discussed that the name
"Teen Talent Cafe" would discourage individuals not in their "teens". The name "talent cafe" or
"performance cafe" was preferred; a sub-clause of "open to young adults ages 14-21" would
identify that the program is not for adults. The agreed to utilize the name Limelight Cafe.
The recommended timeline for proceeding is as follows:
Complete flyer December 26
Begin promotion January 9
Last day to sign-up for cafe February 13
RSVP to eSkape February 16
Bench Program — "Sittin' Pretty in BG"
Ilene obtained two quotations for the aforementioned program. Ghida reported, on behalf of Ilene,
that one quote from Jamestown Advanced Products Corp, based in Jamestown New York, is in the
amount of $3,726 for 10 6' hop benches, galvanized with treated pine. The unit price is $347, plus
$256 for freight. Follow-up information will be provided at the next meeting.
Discount Card, "Be a PART of the Arts".
Michelle indicated that she spoke to several retailers in the area that supported this type of
proposed program. Due to the business' holiday schedule, it was recommended that this program
be promoted in the new year, rather than coordinating it now. A letter to all businesses will be
drafted in January, 2004. Lynne recommended that our program not conflict with Stevenson's
which is issued March 15th. Due to this time frame, it was recommended that the program be
presented in May and the card would expire in May, 2005. Fred recommended that we review
Stevenson's card so we don't duplicate their business promotions.

Village Report
BG Days Float. Ghida reported that Rick Kahen, Chair for the Commission for Residents with
Disabilities suggested that the Village coordinate a "Commissions" float for BG Days whereby all
interested Commissions would represent their respective group at BG Days. The members
expressed an interest in participating.
Applications to the BG Invitational Fine Art Festival, printed by Amdur Productions, were distributed
to members. Applications are available at Village Hall and on Amdur's web site at
www.amdurproductions.com.
Meeting Schedule
The next meeting will be held on January 14th at 7:00 p.m. AC meetings will be held on the second
Wednesday of each month - unless otherwise noted. Meetings will be held at Village Hall, second
floor conference room, unless noted.
Motion to Adjourn — No quorum.
The meeting concluded at 9:00 p.m. Fred thanked the members for their attendance and input.
Respectfully Submitted,
