Welcome

Weinberger representing the BG Symphonic Band. The meeting began at 7:05 p.m.
Approval of Minutes, 11/3/04
Motion by Mann. Second by Herman. Motion carried.
Chair Report
Linda reported that there was some miscommunication regarding an art exhibit that Lori Boxer was
setting up independent of the Arts Commission. Lori worked with the Vernon Area Library to
set-up this art exhibit. Due to lack of promotion, only a few artists signed-up to exhibit, and there
was miscommunication with the contact at the library. Linda shared this information with the AC to
clarify that the exhibit was not coordinated by the Arts Commission.
Linda was approached by someone from the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra expressing interest
in Buffalo Grove establishing an orchestra. Linda stated that this is not an endeavor we could
pursue in 2005, but we would consider it for long range planning.
Linda regretfully reported that Michelle Taxe resigned as Arts Commissioner due to increasing
demands at work and a residential relocation outside of the Village. Michelle volunteered to
continue to assist the Commission with special projects.

result of increased promotion of the Band. Cantigny will pay the Band $700 for the performance.
Great job Band!

✓ Plans are underway for the fall performance, 2005.
✓ There is a new publicity Chair- Liz Malis.

"Limelight Cafe"
Gayle reported that the November limelight went well. Two bands performed at the event. The
evening was described as "sweeeeet". Special thanks to Barbara and Robyn for volunteering at
the event. The event raised $75 for the Arts Commission.
Upcoming Limelights at eSkape, 7:30 pm — 11 pm:
February 18, 2005
April 29, 2005
Gayle presented an idea per Robyn's recommendation which involved a Limelight for adult groups
to perform. This event could be coordinated prior to the arts festival as a fundraiser. Linda, Gayle
& Robyn will meet to compile a proposal for the AC to consider at the next meeting.
Bench Program — "Sittin' Pretty in BG"
Ghida reported that ten businesses have signed up (and paid) for the program. Special thanks to
everyone that followed-up with their business contacts regarding this program. The businesses
include:
BG Park District
Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove
BG Chamber
BG Bank &Trust
Edward Hines Lumber
LaSalle Bank
Prairie School
Robert Morris College
Rotary Club of BG
Zimmerman True Value Hardware
Ghida will order the benches for the program this week; the benches are expected to arrive in
February.
Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival
Ghida reported that Amdur has issued the 2005 Art Festival application book; the book features all
of Amdur's festivals.
Ghida is planning to meet with Amy and Alycia, representing Amdur, next Thursday morning to
discuss the site layout, special events, and logistics for the festival.
Sandy & Lori expressed an interest in participating in the jury process. Ilene has expressed an
interest in the jurying process via e-mail.
Old Business
Lori is interested in coordinating a jewelry demonstration program to be presented by Buffalo
Grove resident and artist Marilu Patterson. Lori suggested that a program be coordinated in March
to provide sufficient time for promotion. The event would be free and open to the public. The
event would be held at the Patterson art studio in Mundelein. Lori will confirm date/time of the
proposed event.
Plans for the January 30th drawing workshop coordinated by Lori boxer are underway. The cost is
$25, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The admittance charge for the program covers the cost for materials.
New Business
Linda encouraged Commissioners to consider volunteers that would be interested in assisting with
AC programs, then they could be considered for appointment to the AC, subject to the Village
Board.
Everyone was asked to come to the table in January with ideas to pursue after August, 2005 (after
the Sittin' Pretty program).
Lori provided follow-up information (see Chair report) pertaining to the art exhibit program that she
coordinated (outside of the AC). She indicated that she is interested in coordinating an art exhibit
at the library in May, 2005 for interested artists. Concern was expressed regarding the timing of
the event, the amount of publicity that would be required for the event, how the event would be
juried, and other issues.
Village Report
No report.
Meeting Schedule
The next meeting will be held on January 12, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. AC meetings will be held on the
second Wednesday of each month - unless otherwise noted. Meetings will be held at Village Hall,
second floor conference room, unless noted.
