and businesses. The draft program will be presented to the Band Board for consideration at their
next meeting. A copy of the sponsorship levels will be sent to the Arts Commission via e-mail.

Howard reported the following information:
✓ The first rehearsal for the New Year is tomorrow. There are 18 rehearsals until the spring,
formal performance.
✓ The Band will perform on March 10th for students and parents at Meridian as part of the annual
program; Twin Groves students and parents will also be invited. The purpose of the performance is
to thank the school staff for their use of their facilities for the band.
✓ Plans for the spring, 2006 performance is underway. The Band has plans are to secure a
special, notable presenter for the performance.
Sponsorship - Ghida provided an update on the "band-aides" and expenditures. A copy of the
budget was distributed and is available upon request.

Gayle reported that plans for the February limelight are underway; three bands have signed up
thus far— Ex post facto, The Chimney Sweeps, and Raw Deal.

Commissioners should be present.

Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival
Ghida followed-up with Connie's Pizza, U Stor It, and Chicago Indoor Racing for $5,000
sponsorship opportunities for the festival. U Stor It indicated that they could not sponsor the
festival due to a tight marketing budget. Connie's is unable to sponsor for $5,000 due to winter
remodeling plans and unanticipated costs as part of their new operation in Buffalo Grove. Ghida
has asked Amdur to follow-up with them to negotiate a smaller sponsorship level. The owner of
Chicago Indoor Racing is still considering the sponsorship opportunity.
Fred indicated he is meeting with Clifford Chrysler regarding sponsorship. Ghida provided him with
information for the $5,000 sponsorship level.
Art Workshop
Plans for the January 30th drawing workshop coordinated by Lori boxer are underway. The cost is
$25, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The admittance charge for the program covers the cost for materials. No
one has singed up thus far for the program. The information is featured in the Village's newsletter
and other communication media.
Old Business
Goals:
Linda reported that there was concern from a commissioner that a great deal of time was spent on
the Art League/workshops given the low attendance from the events. If these types of programs
want to be continued, a different package/program should be considered. Workshops could be
valuable, although a more formal program should be established. For instance, programs should
be planned starting in September, 2005 for the year. A consistent time frame should be
considered such as the first Sunday of the month, from 1 — 3 pm. Careful attention should be paid
so workshops do not compete with park district programs. Fred suggested coordinating programs
for kids (junior-high school) since there has been minimal interest for the adult programs. It was
indicated that the public interest in these workshops have been minimal to none. Concerns were
expressed regarding continuing with any type of workshops due to the work involved in their
coordination, and the poor image that is presented of the Arts Commission from low to no
attendance events. The Commissioners appreciated Lori's hard work on the programs planned
thus far, although it was recommended that we do not pursue further programs unless a more
formal program/agenda could be established, and there is more volunteer interest in planning
these events.
Linda received an e-mail from an individual interested in starting an orchestra. She indicated that
consideration would be given to a group that would start in the fall, 2005. Howard indicated that a
big challenge would be sponsorship since the orchestra would compete with sponsorships for the
band, other art programs, and other community programs. It was stated that most communities
have either a band or an orchestra, but not both.
Proposed adult limelight as a fundraising initiative. Gayle provided a summary of this discussion
from the last meeting. She stated that she talked to Robyn and there was no interest in pursuing
this program at Grillworks. The Commissioner suggested other arenas such as Connie's, Cafe
Winberie, Forest Grove Athletic Club. Gayle indicated that she would anticipate 100-150 adults in
attendance at this type of event — the performers would be selected based on their current, high
popularity. It was not recommended that a program be coordinated at a banquet hall since the
Commission would likely have to guarantee the room with a deposit.
Village Report
No report.
Meeting Schedule
The next meeting will be held on February 9, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. AC meetings will be held on the
second Wednesday of each month - unless otherwise noted. Meetings will be held at Village Hall,
second floor conference room, unless noted.
Motion to Adjourn —
The meeting concluded at 8:30 p.m. Linda thanked the members for their attendance and input.
Happy New Year!
