MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, 7 September 2005 — Rescheduled Regular Meeting

Welcome
Fred Weissman, Acting Chair, welcomed the Commission members. The meeting began at 7:05
pm.
Approval of Minutes, 8/3/05
Motion by Greenberg, second by Alaynick. Motion carried
Chair Report
Fred indicated that Linda apologized for not being able to attend the meeting. Ghida had to
present information at the Plan Commission meeting and could not attend as well.
Commissioners Reports
No report.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
March 9 —Concert for Meridian faculty, staff, and students as well as area students.
March 12 —ensemble recital.
Bonnie reported that the band has had a successful summer. There was a great article featuring
the band in the Daily Herald; the band has received great subsequent publicity from the news
article.
The Band was invited back to Catigny following their recent performance there.
Plans for the October 29th concert are underway. 450 tickets need to be printed.
Barnes and Noble has agreed to post flyers promoting the concert; the Band will be coordinating
a fundraiser at the Arlington Heights location in November.
The following Commissioners volunteered to assist the evening of the performance:
Lynne, Susan, Marilyn, Sandy & Barbara — thank you! Ghida and Linda will also be in
attendance.
Ken Horwitz will serve as the announcer at the performance.
Four holiday performances are planned:
11/27, 12/4, and 12/11
The May 21 performance at Stevenson has been confirmed.
Limelight Cafe
Limelight Cafe programs have been confirmed with eSkape for Fridays: November 4, February
17 & May 19.
Gayle will distribute flyers; promotion should begin for the November event.
Ghida will send an e-mail to past performers and coordinate the performance schedule.
Linda will confirm with Sam Ash regarding their sponsorship and setting-up lights at the events.
Bench Program — "Sittin' Pretty in BG"
No report.
Old Business
Calendar printing
The subcommittee met and established a proposal for an 18 month community calendar. There
was discussion regarding coordinating a children's drawing contest with the schools or promoting
general community information such as Buffalo Grove Days, Art Festival, police programs, public
works services, and so forth. It was suggested that the AC coordinate a "call for photos" and
photos of people and places of Buffalo Grove would be selected to be featured on the calendar.
Adult Limelight
No report.
Spray bottle fundraiser
Fred is researching costs; no report at this time.
Display case possible purchase
Fred is researching costs. It was suggested that he review Dandee Display and the Raupp
Museum.
New Business
Recycled Art Auction.
The Commission discussed the challenges associated to storing artwork for this program.
Village Report
No report.
Meeting Schedule
Ghida will poll the Commission to identify the next meeting date since October 12th is a holiday.
AC meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings will be held
at Village Hall, second floor conference room, unless noted.
