Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Lynne reported that the program book for the fall concert is complete; the draft is currently being
reviewed by Jim Osters. Great job and thank you Lynne!!! The program will be sent to the
printer next week.
The following Commissioners will volunteer the evening of the performance; they should plan to
be at the school at 6:00 p.m.: Linda, Lynne, Susan, Marilyn, Sandy & Barbara — thank you!
Ghida reported that the Band was awarded a $990 grant from the Illinois Arts Council for
operational expenses. Ginger Larson wrote the grant application. Follow-up information was
provided to the IAC from the Village.
Bonnie reported that the Holiday performances have been established (see agenda).
The Band will be coordinating a fundraiser at the Arlington Heights Barnes and Noble.
Vouchers will be distributed throughout the community; the weekend following the performance,
everyone that submits a voucher at B&N, 15% of all sales will benefit the Band (excluding food
and drink sales). Trustee Braiman suggested that the voucher be printed in the Village
newsletter in an effort to maximize the exposure of the program. Bonnie will inquire with B&N
and obtain their approval on the mass distribution; if approved, she will advise Jim Osters to
send a voucher to Ghida to print in the newsletter. The deadline to submit information for the
newsletter is Monday, October 10th.
Limelight Cafe
Limelight Cafe programs have been confirmed with eSkape for Fridays: November 4, February
17 & May 19.
Sandy, Robyn, Gayle and Ghida - volunteers - were asked to meet at eSkape at 6:00 p.m. for
set-up.
Ghida reported that two bands have signed up thus far. Gayle will inquire with SHS about
sign-up at the school; Ghida will ask Susan to follow-up with BGHS.
Linda reported that Sam Ash has not yet confirmed their sponsorship/lights for the performance;
she will follow-up with the manager.
Robyn reported that she talked to Bill Feldgreber at eSkape regarding the Village's revenue
from admission sales. Bill indicated that he couldn't offer the Village anything beyond the $1
proceeds per ticket sale due to his costs for security and set-up. He offered to revisit this issue
after the next Limelight.
Bench Program — "Sittin' Pretty in BG"
Ghida confirmed that the benches will be featured in the next Village newsletter.

New Business
Recycled Art Auction.
Linda distributed information for a recent Recycled Art Auction that she attended. An overview
of the discussion from the AC's last meeting was discussed. It was indicated that the biggest
challenge with this program is the storage of artwork and the overall management of the
program.
National Anthem Project
Wanted: All Star States and Cities. Linda recommended that the Village participate in a
national effort to promote the National Anthem. Apparently, 61% of Americans don't know the
lyrics to the National Anthem. As a result, states and cities around the country have joined with
The National Anthem Project to promote the importance of music education. To become an All
Star, each city or state must proclaim their support for the project and for music education, and
participating agencies coordinate the National Anthem at their civic events. A complete list of All
Stars can be found at www.thenationalanthemproject.org/alIstarcities.htm1.
Motion to recommend that the Village of Buffalo Grove apply to be an All Star by Greenberg,
second by Herman. Motion carried. If approved by the Village Board, Linda will follow-up with
the coordinating organization.
Village Report
No report.
Meeting Schedule
The next meeting will be held on November 9, 2005. AC meetings are typically held on the
