Motion by Herman, second by Alaynick. Motion carried
Chair Report
Linda complimented the design and content within the last Village Newsletter highlighting the
Sittin' Pretty Program, the Band, and promoting the calendar program. She also expressed great
compliments to the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band for an outstanding Fall performance.
Commissioners Reports
No report.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
It was stated that more band programs need to be ordered for the spring performance; 400 were
ordered and distributed at the fall performance. Linda suggested that the ticket table be moved
closer to the front door at future performances.
Bonnie thanked the Arts Commission for volunteering at the fall band performance.
Bonnie and Howard agreed that the new publicity chair, Dr. Alice Boghosian DDS, has been
doing an outstanding job promoting the band and their events.
The Band has started rehearsing for the winter programs.
The Barnes & Noble fundraiser was disappointing with only $1200 in sales which results in $190
to the band. Robyn suggested coordinating a voucher program with the local Dominick's and/or
Jewel. Bonnie suggested that in the future, the entire band, needs to support and embrace the
program in order for it to be effective.
Limelight Cafe
Five bands performed at the Limelight Cafe on November 4th. Approximately 300 teens attended
the event; the AC raised $264 from the event.
The next Limelight Cafe will be February 17 at eSkape, followed by May 19.
Linda indicated that Sam Ash is no longer sponsoring the Limelight due to a decrease in their
personnel. Fred volunteered to research lights for future Limelight Cafes; the estimated cost will
be $500; the AC has raised approximately $1,100 from the program.
On Gayle's behalf, Linda suggested that a gift card or payment of $50/concert be paid to Jacob
Lipp for his assistance with the sound equipment. Jacob's assistance was invaluable at the
November 5th Limelight. Motion by Weissman, second by Gold. Motion carried.
Community Calendar Program
Ghida reported that promotion for the calendar has begun. Every business license holder in
Buffalo Grove received a letter about the sponsorship opportunities. The opportunities are also
being promoted on various other communication media such as the News List, Channel 6, and
other areas. Everyone was asked to contact at least 5 businesses/organizations about the
sponsorship opportunity. Flyers were distributed, and sample calendars are available as
volunteers promote the program.
Old Business
National Anthem Project
As a follow-up to the last meeting, Ghida shared the proposed All Star States and Cities program
with the Village Board via e-mail and there were no objections. Linda recommended that we
move forward with coordination of this program. Apparently, 61% of Americans don't know the
lyrics to the National Anthem. As a result, states and cities around the country have joined with
The National Anthem Project to promote the importance of music education. To become an All
Star, each city or state must proclaim their support for the project and for music education, and
participating agencies coordinate the National Anthem at their civic events. A complete list of All
Stars can be found at .t enationalant em roiectfor /allstarcities. tml.
Ghida will coordinate to place a Proclamation on the next Board agenda for consideration. The
program will be recommended for calendar year 2006. Subject to approval by the Board, Linda
will send a letter to schools and organizations asking for their involvement. The National Anthem
would be suggested to be sung at the following events:
•January Village Board Meeting — performance by BG Singers — kick-off and introduction of this
program.
•Spring band performance — performance by Wayne Messmer
•Fall band performance
•Rotary concert series —first concert program
•Willowstream concert series —first concert program
•Bingo night at BG Days
•BGRA All Star Games
*Art Festival, Raise the flag Saturday morning as a kick off of the festival
•Schools will be asked to sign the national anthem at sporting events and cultural events.
Village Report
No report.

The next meeting will be held on December 14, 2005. AC meetings are typically held on the
second Wednesday of each month. Meetings will be held at Village Hall, second floor
conference room, unless noted.
