No report.
Limelight Cafe
Gayle presented Box Boxer with a gift certificate and village mug for all the time he has
volunteered for Limelight Cafe.
The Limelight Cafe schedule for the following year is November 3rd, February 2nd and April 27th at
eSkape.
Gayle has been working with the new marketing staff at eSkape in hopes of getting a larger
portion of the entry fee. Currently we get $1 out of the $5 admission fee and Gayle is
negotiating an additional $1.
The additional funds would be used to purchase a basic sound system. Bob Boxer volunteered
to assist Gayle in selecting the equipment once the funds are available. The committee also
discussed the logistics of set-up and take-down of the equipment by committee members.
Little Limelight
Robyn reported that the first Little Limelight will be held at Aptakisic School on Friday, October
27th from 7:OOPM-10:00 PM. Auditions for this event will be held on October 6th from
approximately 6:30-8:30 PM.
The cost of rental of the school district facility has not been determined. School District 102 has
asked the Village for an original copy of the Certificate of Insurance to cover this event. There
is no sound system for our use at the school. Robyn will call the Park District to see if the
committee can borrow their equipment. If the Park District cannot accommodate the committee
Bob Boxer volunteered his equipment.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
The Fall Concert will be held on October 28th at Buffalo Grove High School. The program will
consist of music from various European composers.
Music has been ordered for the Christmas concerts which will be held on November 26h
December 3rd and December 10th. The Christmas concerts will feature Lynn Schneider as a
soloist.
Howard Green announced that they have added several new members to the group.
Band will return to Cantini in Wheaton and Wheeling again next summer for their summer
concert series.
The surveys that were given to the band members are due August 18th. Bonnie will remind the
members of the band at the next meeting.
Elections of new officers will be at the October meeting.
Community Calendar Program
Carol reported that the calendars are complete and at the printer. The calendars should be
mailed mid-August.
Evan Hill, the graphic designer, will be honored at the Village Board meeting of August 21- for
all his work on this project.
Buffalo Grove Invitational Art Festival
Carol requested feedback from the Art Commission members on this event. The members
provided the following comments:
• Bring back the children's art tent.
• Due to the hot weather keep the event open longer on Saturday night.
• Establish cooling stations at both ends of the event and continue to keep the one in the
middle of the fair. This could be accomplished by opening other stores (if available) or
putting RV's with air conditioning units for shelters.
• Larger misters. The committee thought that the Fire Department may have some that can
be used for this event.
• Parking — Clarify where the artist parking is located. The signage, used for the parking
areas, was very confusing to the volunteers and the artists.
• Possibly look to have a winter art festival. This could be done at the old CDW building or
the Golf Dome.
• Feedback from the vendors was that the volunteers were an asset to the fair. Confirm
their role with Amdur Productions.
Village's 50th Anniversary Committee Update
Barbara sent a report to be read in her absence. Barbara met with Linda Rosen, Howard Green
and Jan Sirabian to discuss a joint concert with the BG Singers and the BG Symphonic Band. It
was decided that they would have a joint concert at BG High School sometime in August. The
fee would be minimal to cover the cost of the music. The committee is also considering an ice
cream social before the concert.
The subject of using the proceeds from the 2007 Art Purchase Program from the Art Festival be
used to commission an artist to do a painting for the 50th anniversary. Trustee Braiman
suggested Frank McMahon and Fred had some pictures of work he had done for other
communities. Additional funds could be raised by having copies of this work and note cards
available for sale to the public.
Trustee Braiman suggested that the committee look to Elk Grove Village and Schaumburg to
see what they had planned for their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Old Business
Rock Garden — Susan brought samples of the river rocks that were used at Meridian Middle
School for their special project. The quote that Susan received from Menoni & Mecogni,
Highland Park, was $31 a cubic yard (approximately 2,500 Ibs).
The committee liked the idea but did not make a decision as to when they would use this project
and where the rock garden would be located.
Fred discussed the problem he had finding the smaller plaster buffalos for another future
project. Fred will continue to research the buffalos.
New Business
No Report
Village Report
Carol reported that the Village Buffalo is being repainted by the Public Works Department and
will be back next to the Youth Center this fall.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. AC meetings are typically
held on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings will be held at Village Hall, second
floor conference room, unless noted.
