MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, June 6, 2007

Welcome
The meeting was called to order at 6:03PM.
Chair Report
Linda Rosen welcomed Anne Marrin and thanked her for her efforts on behalf of the Arts
Commission in regards to fundraising for the Arts Festival and grant writing for the Commission.
She displayed a sample of the postcard that will be used to advertise the Art Festival. The cards
will be mailed to 5,000 residents in the upper income bracket.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Lynne Schneider to amend the minutes to read that the committee has
tabled the New Year's Eve activity. The motion was seconded by Barbara Herman and
unanimously approved.
A motion was made by Barbara Herman to amend the minutes to show that the Arts
Commission has volunteered to staff the Ice Cream Social for the 50th Anniversary Committee.
The motion was seconded by Marilyn Alaynick and unanimously approved.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
The survey that the committee did on band dues produced information from three (3) bands:
Arlington Heights - $15.00 per year (used for social events)
Mt. Prospect— No dues
North Shore Band - $100 plus they request additional voluntary donations.
Bonnie Gold will try to get more information from other bands in the area such as Palatine,
Glenview and Elgin.
Summer concert dates are:
7/04 Rotary Green
7/21 Wheaton
7/29 Long Grove Heritage Concert
8/19 Cantigny
Fall concert is scheduled for 10/27.
Limelight Cafe
The scheduled dates for the next season of Limelight Cafe are 11/09/07, 2/15/08 and 4/25/08 at
eSkape. The agreement with eSkape is to continue to offer them 80% from each admission for
use of the room up to a maximum of $1,000. This amount will be averaged over all three (3)
events.
Little Limelight
The proposed dates for the next Little Limelight were set for 10/06/07 (Auditions) and 10/19/07
(Performance). Requests have been made for both Tripp and Ivy Hall schools in hopes that one
of them will be able to accommodate the program for these dates. Susan Mann is trying to get
confirmation for Tripp school but the audition time would have to be changed to 6:00-9:OOPM.
Anne Marrin stated that the Ponds Retirement Center has offered use of their facilities to the
Village free of charge. More information on this option is being explored.
Adult Limelight
In Gayle Pervous' absence she submitted a report stating that she has not been able to get
confirmation from eSkape for an Adult Limelight program in January.
Buffalo Grove Invitational Art Festival
Project Linus - Lori Lapping and Laura Ander are chairing this event. Amdur Productions,
through Blick, was able to get all the supplies donated. There was a discussion of a small
give-away to each child as a thank you and remembrance of their time at the festival. A motion
was made by Lynne Schneider and seconded by Marilyn Alaynick to either purchase balloons or
suckers. The motion was unanimously approved.
The Goodie Bags for the artists will be assembled on 7/11/07 at 10:OOAM at the Chamber of
Commerce office. Committee members that volunteered to assemble the bags are Chris
Gibson, Bonnie Gold, Barbara Herman and Marilyn Alaynick. The bags will contain a water
bottle, village map, a list of restaurants in the area and coupons from local businesses. Barbara
Herman was successful in obtaining a donation from the Bank of Buffalo Grove for the bags
Lynne Schneider requested volunteers for the Preview Party that will be held at Indeck on
7/12/07. Barbara Herman and Marilyn Alaynick volunteered to work this event. Outback will do
the catering and Binny's will provide the wine. Lynne reported that Julia Dvorkin, Stevenson
High School, was awarded the Chamber Art Scholarship.
Carol Berman passed around the volunteer sheet for the Arts Festival. The meeting for the
festival volunteers was directly after this meeting at 7:OOPM
It was suggested to the Arts Festival staff to borrow carts from Zimmerman's Hardware and/or
Binny's to store the water bottles for transport are the fest.
Village's 50th Anniversary Committee Update
Barbara Herman reported that the plans for the Ice Cream Social are going well. Linda Rosen
and Howard Green are working on the music for the event. It will be held at Stevenson High
School on 8/03/08
Old Business
Tribute Cards
Lynne Schneider received two (2) quotes for the printing of 1,000 cards, with envelopes and
shrink-wrapped in packages of ten (10): Plum Grove Printers - $370.59 and AIM Business
Printers $580.
After discussion on cost of the cards a motion was made by Susan Mann to propose a charge
$1 per card, when packaged in a group of ten (10), and $3 minimum donation when done
individually. Barbara Herman seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
A proposal will be submitted to the Village Board to move forward with this project. The cards
would be sold at the Art Festival, Buffalo Grove Days, Symphonic Band concerts, Limelight,
Little Limelight and Adult Limelight events. Cards can also be requested from Laura Ander, who
will chair this project, via email or her home address.
New Business
New Year's Eve Activity —This project has been tabled.

Meeting Schedule
There will be no July meeting due to the Art Festival. The next meeting will be held 8/08/07 at
7:OOPM.
Adjourn
The meeting concluded at 6:50PM. The motion was made by Barbara Herman and seconded
by. Marilyn Alaynick. The motion was unanimously approved.
