Chair Report
Linda Rosen thanked everyone who assisted with the Little Limelight Auditions. She also
reported that Susan Mann is traveling and will not be back until after the first of the year.
Approval of Minutes
Linda Rosen made a motion to correct the minutes to show that the auditions for Little Limelight
were actually on October 5th not the
6th as reported in the minutes. A motion was made by Marilyn Alaynick and seconded by
Barbara Herman to correct and approve the minutes. This motion was unanimously approved.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
The fall concert, "Movies and Dance," will be held on 10/27/07 at 7:OOPM at Buffalo Grove High
School. Tickets are $10 in advance ($8 for students and seniors) and $12 at the door. Lynn
Schneider completed the program for this event. Volunteers for the evening are Linda, Marilyn,
Laura, Chris, Fred and Barbara.
The band will hold elections for the Band Board on 10/11/07. Marilyn volunteered to attend the
11/01/07 board meeting on behalf of the Arts Commission.
It was reported that the Village gave permission for the band to obtain a commission piece for
the 50th Anniversary.
Lynn noted there has been a large turnover in the band since the spring. Approximately 22
people have left and 20 new have been added. Linda will contact Jim Osters to see if the band
is doing exit interviews to find out why so many members are leaving,
Limelight Cafe
The scheduled dates for the next season of Limelight Cafe are 11/09/07, 2/15/08 and 4/25/08 at
eSkape. Susan Levy will post the sign-up sheet at Buffalo Grove High School for the 11/09/07
performance. Gayle Pervos will post it at Stevenson.
Currently there is only 1 band signed up for the 11/09/07 performance. It was decided to send
another email out to the people on our list reminding them of the performance. Volunteers for
this event are Marilyn, Barbara, Gayle, Lori, Sandy, Fred and Carol.
Gayle reported that she and Susan Levy, from the Village of Buffalo Grove, will represent the
Village at the Illinois Municipal League meeting on 10/20/07. They will showcase "The
Limelight's — Little Limelight and the Limelight Cafe" in the special program section of the
conference. This program of the Arts Commission will compete with programs from other
communities for special recognition.
Little Limelight
Gayle Pervos reported on the very successful audition for the 10/19/07 performance. The acts
were very good and there was also a wonderful variety of talent.
Lori Lapping got Dorfler's Meats to donate cookies for the program. Volunteers for the event are
Marilyn, Fred, Linda, Gayle, Lori, Chris and Carol. Lori will act as the MC for the evening. Since
President Hartstein cannot be there to make the presentation to the performers Linda will
perform this task.
Adult Limelight
Gayle reported that the Adult Limelight program will be held on 01/26/08 at Alcott Center. This
program will be a joint venture with the Buffalo Grove Park District. Information on this program
is going into the Village Newsletter and the Park District brochure.
Buffalo Grove Invitational Art Festival
A meeting will be held on 10/30/07 with Amy Amdur, Amdur Productions, to review the last Art
Festival and plan for the 2008 festival. Carol will represent the Arts Commission at this meeting.
A suggestion was made to have some of the Little Limelight performers to appear on the Art
Festival stage in 2008. This concept will be discussed with Amy at the 10/30/07 meeting.
Village's 50th Anniversary Committee Update
Barbara reported that the kick-off dinner (invitation only) for the 50th Anniversary celebration will
be on 03/07/08. On 03/08/08 & 03/09/08 there will be a communitywide celebration and then
other events through the year. The Arts Commission is hosting the combined BG
Singers/Symphonic Band concert and ice cream social to be held on 08/03/08.
Note Cards
No report.
Sculpture
The Village is considering commissioning a piece of sculpture for the 50th Anniversary which will
be located on the municipal campus. Sandy Greenberg will be chairing this project for the
committee. She spoke with Amy Amdur, Amdur Productions, who advised her on the selection
of artists and other information to start this project. Amy did not feel the committee had enough
time to do a Call for Artists. She would be happy to suggest some local artists who could do this
for the Village. Some of the important aspects to consider are location of the piece and will it be
abstract or figurative. There was discussion of possibly including a base of bricks that could be
sold for additional revenue for the sculpture.
After much discussion Lynn Schneider made a motion to request a sum of $35,000 from the
Village Board to go toward this piece. This would be in addition to any funds raised by the Arts
Commission from proceeds of the Art Fair, Tribute Cards and possible sale of bricks. The
motion was seconded by Marilyn Alanyick and unanimously approved.

Village Report
The Village website has been updated to include all information on the Arts Commission activity.
Carol asked that commissioners go on and review for any changes or corrections.
A proposal was submitted for the Arts Commission to assist in the coordination of a possible
Buffalo Grove Film Festival. This event was suggested to coordinate with the Art Festival and to
be held at the Rotary Village Green on Saturday night. The committee members felt that the Art
Festival itself took all our efforts and energy and would not suggest another event scheduled for
this weekend.
Meeting Schedule
The next meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 11/14/07 at 7:OOPM.
Adjourn
The meeting concluded at 8:30PM. The motion was made by Sandy Greenberg and seconded
by. Marilyn Alaynick. The motion was unanimously approved.
Sincerely,
Carol Berman
