MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made to approve the minutes from the 5/14/08 meeting by Fred Weissman and
seconded by Marilyn Alaynick. The motion was unanimously approved.
Chair Report
Linda reported on the death of Chris Gibson's father and Sandy Greenberg's mother. The
committee decided that, in the future, when a family member of an Arts Commissioner dies the
Arts Commission will take up a collection at the next meeting for a charitable contribution in
memory of the deceased.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Bonnie Gold reported that the last board meeting was canceled. Future concerts are as follows:
7/18 Wheaton
8/03 Joint concert with the BG Singers as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration
10/26 Fall Concert at Buffalo Grove High School
Limelight Cafe
The only Limelight Cafe performance is scheduled for 4/24/09 at eSkape.
Little Limelight
The next Little Limelight is scheduled at Tripp School. Auditions will be held on 9/26/08 and the
performance is 10/17/08,
Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival, July 19 & 20, 2008
Family Art Tent- The Arts Commission project for the festival is the rock garden. Laura Ander is
chairing this project for the commission. The stone for the project will be purchased from
Schwake Stone. In addition, Bookmark Art will be sponsored by Indian Trails Library on
Saturday and Vernon Township Library on Sunday.
The committee will do Welcome Bags for the artists. These bags will be filled with a list of local
restaurants, Village map, Community Guide and other small items. The bags will be assembled
on Wednesday, 7/16, 9:OOAM at Village Hall.
The Preview Party at Indeck is scheduled for 7/17/08. Encore singers will perform. Invitations
will go out to members of the Chamber of Commerce, Arts Commission and artists.
Four (4) youths have signed up for the Youth Art Tent.
Marilyn Alaynick is coordinating some Little Limelight contestants to perform on the music stage
on Saturday from 3:OOPM-4:OOPM. Fred will bring the sound system for the performers and
coordinate the sound system with Cirrus Falcon.
Village's 50th Anniversary Committee Update
On 8/3/08, from 2:OOPM-4:OOPM, there will be a concert featuring the Buffalo Grove Symphonic
Band and the Encore Singers at Stevenson High School. An ice cream social will follow this
event. The Arts Commission will be hosting this event.
Note Cards
The note cards will be sold at the Art Festival and the 4th of July celebration.

New Business
Linda discussed with the committee their concept of the purpose of the Arts Commission and
programming ideas. The committee requested that the Trustee Liaisons, Jeff Braiman and Jeff
Berman, attend the next meeting and provide direction from the Village Board on future projects.

There will be no July meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for 8/13/08.

The meeting concluded at 8:05PM. The motion was made by Fred Weissman and seconded by
Laura Ander. The motion was unanimously approved.
