Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival Carol Berman reported on the meeting that was held with Amy Amdur concerning the Art Festival. • Our current date for the 2009 festival is 7/18-7/19. The Ann Arbor festival is 7/15-7/18. Amy has proposed we change the date for our art festival to 6/6 & 6/7. 6/7 is commencement at Stevenson & BG high schools. • Family Art Tent— Brainstorm idea for next year. Amy suggested painted mini Frisbees as a possible idea. We can eliminate Paint-A-Car but it seems to be popular. Can do Paint-A-Truck. Should have multiple projects for different age groups. Thoughts to expand the size of this tent. Keep in the same general area and have the youth artists surrounding this area. Amy felt that we should not have any youths under 14 volunteering to assist with projects. A meeting should be scheduled with Amy and our representatives who are chairing the Family Art Tent to work out all the logistics a month prior to the fest. • Food Vendors — Next year will do "snack type" vendors since attendees seem to prefer one of the restaurants on site. • Volunteers — Excellent. • Preview Party— Explore with chamber the possibility of enhancing this event. • Wine Tasting —Good but move location to shady spot. • Little Limelight- Attempt to get participants for both days. Committee requested that the Village continue to work with Amdur to obtain a date for the festival that does not conflict with the Ann Arbor festival. Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band The Fall Concert, Celebrations and Commemorations, will be held on October 26th at Buffalo Grove High School at 7:OOPM. The admission fee is $10 in advance, $12 at the door and $8 for students and seniors. Jim Osters will do the cover for the program and Lynn Schneider will do the programs. Bonnie Gold reported on the last board meeting. There are openings on the Band Board but no one is stepping forward to fill these positions. The board is trying to sell ads for the Fall concert program. They are also considering having a party for the members after the 12/14 concert. Other items of discussion were establishing a phone tree and working with the announcer for the concert to improve the program and accuracy of presentation. The board will ask him to come to dress rehearsal. Sandy Greenberg will attend all future Band Board meetings with Bonnie. Volunteers for the Fall Concert are Chris Gibson, Fred Weissman, and possibly Sandy Greenberg and Lynne Schneider. Little Limelight The next Little Limelight is scheduled at Tripp School. Auditions will be held on 9/26/08 and the performance is 10/17/08. Audition times will be in 5 minutes intervals. Performers will be asked to keep their program down to 3 minutes. Currently there are only eight spots filled for the program. Brian Lee, parent of three of the performers, has volunteered to help with the sound Volunteers for the auditions are Fred Weissman, Carol Berman, Steve Bulmash and Marilyn Alaynick. Fred Weissman volunteered to be the MC for the evening of the performance. Limelight Cafe The only Limelight Cafe performance for the next season is scheduled for 5/01/09 at eSkape. Note Cards No report. Old Business No report. New Business Bonnie Gold will report on the proposed intergenerational program at the next meeting. Sandy Greenberg reviewed information received from the Illinois Arts Council to see if we could apply for any grants for our programming. All grant requests must be filed by 3/15 for the following year. In order for us to obtain a grant for a project we would have to raise funds and then the IAC would consider funding the project. Currently the band receives a program grant from the IAC. Sandy felt we should develop a program and then request partial funding from the Village. She would also like us to continue to explore funding for a 5 year plan for public art. Village Report Carol reported that the Village received an invitation from the Village of Lombard to attend a meeting concerning the formation of a Public Art Consortium. Other communities invited are Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Flossmoor, Lincolnwood and Northbrook. Carol and Sandy Greenberg will represent the Village this meeting on September 15h Meeting Schedule The next meeting is rescheduled for 10/15/08. Adjourn The meeting concluded at 8:25PM.
