Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the minutes from the January 13th meeting by Marilyn Alaynick and seconded by Barbara Hermann. The motion was unanimously approved. Chair Report Linda thanked Sandy Greenberg and the Bloomin' Buffalo Grove committee for all their hard work. She also congratulated Ghida Neukirch on securing the site for the 2010 Invitation Fine Arts Festival. Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival — July 17t" and 18th Carol reported that Edgemark, the management company for Town Center, has given their permission to hold the Art Festival at their center. Family Art Tent — the committee requested staff to see if the tent could be relocated to the center of the festival for more exposure. Laura Ander displayed little bird houses that could be obtained for $0.80 each. The committee liked the idea of using this as the main event for the Family Art Tent. In addition, she suggest that the committee due string necklaces with fruit loops and red licorice as an additional craft. It was suggested that we place a donation box in the Family Art Tent to help defray the cost of the supplies. It would be wonderful to find a sponsor for this event. A balloon artist, Jason Giolli, has agreed to be part of the Family Art Tent and only work for tips. Unique Expressions — There will be ten (10) tables that will be used for handicap artists. This group will be coordinated with the Citizens with Disability Committee. This will take the place of the youth artists that displayed their work last year. Preview Party will be held but there are no details on the event at this time. It was also suggested that maybe we could use Giordano's for the Saturday night party. The committee would also like to continue with the Sunday morning breakfast keeping it light with Danishes, bagels and fruit. Possible location would be the Family Art Tent. Ghida is looking for suggestions for a gift for the volunteers. One suggestion was a flashing lanyard. We will continue with the bags that we present to the artists. Last year they were given to Amdur Productions for distribution and this year they will be distributed by committee members on Saturday morning before the start of the festival. The committee is working to obtain additional groups to perform on the center stage. The Buffalo Grove Jazz Band will perform and some of the Limelight performers will also be asked to participate. Lynne Schneider, Sandy Greenberg and Fred Weissman volunteered to judge the Art Purchase program and come up with suggestions for the Village Board. Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band The spring 2010 concert will be held at Stevenson High School on Saturday, April 24t" The theme of this year's concert is "Blue on Blue" and will consist of pieces that exemplify "blue," either in style or by theme. Lynne Schneider has volunteered to do the introduction at the event. Upcoming events include the June 15th performance of the Jazz Band at Willow Stream Park, at the Art Festival and Buffalo Grove Days. In addition, the band will play on July 4th at Rotary Green. The date for the fall concert has not been established Limelight Cafe The date of April 30th has been established for this event at eSkape. Staff will send out an a-blast to the names on the list of performers. A sign up sheet will be displayed at Stevenson High School and Buffalo Grove High School. Bloomin' Buffalo Grove — May 22nd Sandy Greenberg reported on the committee's activities. The fine art pieces that have been donated will be sold in addition to the 60 bird houses for sale that will be decorated by local artists. Cookies, suckers and other items that fall within the theme will be sold at the event. The event will be held at Village Hall. The committee is working on publicity which will include print media, Channel 6, website posting, Village Newsletter and posters. In addition, we will announce the event at the Symphonic Band performance and hope to have some publicity at the Buffalo Grove Garden Club's annual sale. New Business None Village Report Carol discussed the Volunteer Reception that will be held on February 28t". Both Linda and Fred will be honored for their years of service. She also asked if any members had questions on the Ethics Statements and Code of Conduct that was distributed at the last meeting. Trustee Trilling provided the committee with an overview of the important points in each document which was appreciated by all who were at the meeting. Adjourn The next meeting is scheduled for March 10th. The meeting concluded at 7.59 PM. The motion was made by Marilyn Alaynick and seconded by Lori Lapping. The motion was unanimously approved.
