The meeting was called to order at 6.15 PM.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made to approve the minutes from the June 9, 2010 meeting by Marilyn
Alaynick and seconded by Barbara Herman. The motion was unanimously approved.
Chair Report
Linda reported on the Buddy Baseball dinner she recently attended honoring Mike Katz
who was retiring from his leadership position of this organization. It was a wonderful
evening and very inspiring. Linda also wanted to congratulate the Buffalo Grove
Symphonic Band on a wonderful performance on the 4t" of July.
Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival — July 17t" and 18t"
Carol Berman recapped the current progress of the festival.
The Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Celebrate Art party
on Thursday, July 15t" at the Indeck Building. Local artists will be represented at
this program.
On Friday, July 16t" the BG Jazz Band will perform at Rotary Green.
Family Art Tent — Projects for the Family Art Tent will be "paint a bird house" and
string necklaces with fruit loops and red licorice. A balloon artist, Jason Giolli,
has agreed to be part of the Family Art Tent and only work for tips. Laura Ander
and Lori Lapping will chair this event. Lori stated that they would obtain all the
necessary supplies for the project.
Unique Expressions —This program is for handicap artists. Registration is now
closed.
Youth Artists — This program will be repeated this year with ten (10) tables
available for youth artists. Registration is now closed.
Sunday Breakfast — This event will take place at India House. Awards will be
presented to the artists by the Village for the Art Purchase Program and by
Amdur Productions for the overall fest.
Entertainment — The Lee Family will appear on the stage on Saturday at
10:OOAM and the
Art Festival Office —The new location will be 178 McHenry Rd.
Artist Bags —The bags will be distributed to the artists on Saturday morning as a
welcome gift from the Arts Commission. Volunteers to distribute the bags were
Gayle, Chris, Marilyn and Linda.
This year Amdur Productions is planning to provide a water bottle to each artist
during the fest and will circulate a cart with a large container of water to fill these
bottles. This is in lieu of the bottles of water that were previously distributed in an
effort to "go green".
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Bonnie Gold reported that the last band board meeting was canceled. Village staff is
attempting to schedule a meeting with Howard Green, Jim Oster, Ghida Neukirch, Carol
Berman, Linda Rosen, Bonnie Gold and Sandy Greenberg to discuss the band survey,
plans for 2011 and other cooperative efforts between the Village, AC and the band. The
date for this meeting is yet to be determined.
Bloomin' Buffalo Grove — Sandy Greenberg
Marilyn Alaynick attempted to sell the remaining bird houses at the Farmer's Market
with no success. It was determined that the additional bird houses and art work be
donated to local senior residences and assisted living facilities.
Suggestions for future projects —frames, ornaments, boxes and drydels.
At tonight's Village Board meeting the Arts Commission will be presenting a check for
$1,000.00 to Buddy Baseball for use in assisting players in need with their initiation
fees.
New Business
Sculpture — The AC has requested that $1,000.00 be held aside from the Art Festival
Art Purchase Program for the fund to put a piece of sculpture in front of Village Hall.
This amount will be added to the other proceeds of the AC to establish a fund for this
purpose.

Village Report
Carol reported that the Village Trustees and President Hartstein have selected Dean
Bragg as the new Village Manager. He will assume his position on or about September
7th
Adjourn
The next meeting is scheduled for August 11th at 7:OOPM in the EOC.
The meeting concluded at 7.05 PM.
The motion to adjourn was made by Lori Lapping and seconded by Marilyn Alaynick .
The motion was unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned at 7.05PM
The Arts Commissioners moved on to the Council Chambers to view the check
presentation to Buddy Baseball at tonight's Village Board Meeting.
