They committee is trying to get members of local churches and synagogues to participate along with other civic groups. We will need to have volunteers to work this event. Blooming Buffalo Grove Fran Sachs thanked the committee members for working so hard on this event. The member included Sharon Borstein, Marilyn Alaynick, Barbara Herman, Sandy Greenberg (co-chair) and Carol Berman. She reported that the program was a wonderful success. The Saving tiny Hearts organization brought in a number of guests that day. The Artists' League members aided the program by decorating approximately 30% of the boxes and mirrors. The raffle was a big success and raised about $1,000. Attendance at this event was better than last year but we still need to increase attendance for future programs. This year we did not get the publicity that we had the previous year. In the future we need to concentrate on publicity and distributing posters to various businesses. Fran felt that we should not do another Blooming Buffalo Grove project next year. One of the difficult things is to choose a medium that would be priced right and the artists could decorate. Sharon suggested that china plates for a future project. Fran also mentioned that the cookies and beverages we had did not sell and possibly not do any food in the future. Linda suggested that we look to partner with another event that would bring in more people. The remaining boxes and mirrors, plus some of the remaining birdhouses from the 2010 Bloomin' Buffalo Grove project, will be donated to Saving tiny Hearts for their July gala. The check presentation to Saving tiny Hearts will take place at the June 20t" Village Board meeting. Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival The volunteer meeting was held tonight prior to the Art Festival meeting. It was decided not to do bags for the artists this year. The committee was also concerned that bottled water would be distributed to the artists this year. Art purchase program — a motion was made by Fred Weissman and seconded by Lynne Schneider to set aside a portion of the money collected for the future sculpture garden. The motion passed unanimously, Lynne suggested that we also consider purchasing a display case for Village Hall where we could buy 3 dimensional pieces. Currently we are limited to pieces that can be hung on the wall. The committee thought this was a good idea and we should pursue this suggestion with Ghida Neukirch. Artists' League Sharon Borstein reported on the May meeting of the Artists' League. It was held at the Arboretum Club and Len Upin was the featured speaker. The Artists' League will have its first all member show at the Indian Trails Library the month of August 2011. Sharon is seeking members of the league who would like to be part of this event. Sharon plans to try ways for the members to take more responsibility for the group and possibly make specific assignments. Also, the group is continually seeking new members. The next meeting is Monday, June 27t" at the Arboretum. New Business None Old Business None Village Report No report Adjourn The next meeting is scheduled for August 8th, 2011.
