Chair Report
Linda thanked Howard Green and the Symphonic Band for the wonderful 9/11 concert
for the community. She had heard, from so many sources, that it was a fabulous
concert.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
In Bonnie's absence Fred Weissman reported on the 9/11 concert. Those who
attended felt it was a great concert. The auditorium at Buffalo Grove High School was
almost filled to capacity. In addition to Village President Braiman, local clergy,
Representative Dold and Brigadier General Dunn spoke to the audience. It was a
wonderful gift to the community.
The Fall Concert is scheduled for November 13t" at Buffalo Grove High School
Artists' League
Sharon Borstein reported on the first exhibition of the Artists' League which was held
the month of August at Indian Trails Library. This show provided great press for the
group plus it also brought in new members,
The September meeting will be held in the Council Chambers of Village Hall. The
featured speaker is Andrea Harris, of Gamblin Paints, who will speak on color theory.
In October Ms. Harris will also be the featured speaker and this time feature Strathmore
Paper— how paper happens.
There is interest in developing some pop-up galleries. Sharon has found a volunteer to
work with the group to develop a website. In addition, the group would also like to do
more shows as they did at Indian Trails. Each month a piece of art, which was done by
a member, will be featured in the newsletter. Sharon has also asked the members of
the league to watch for a display case that the village can purchase to display small
pieces of art.
Sharon has been in contact with the artists' leagues in Palatine and Arlington Heights.
There will possibly be a joint project in the future.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 24t" in the EOC, lower level of Village Hall.
