approved.
Chair Report
Linda thanked all who volunteered for the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band Concert. It
was a huge success and well attended.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
There was no report from the band. Howard Green is still looking for confirmation of a
date for the Fall Concert.
Artists' League.
The April 23rd meeting was held in the EOC at Village Hall at 7:OOPM. Ed Borstein, a
member of the Artists' League, was the guest speaker for the evening. He spoke about
his art — photography— and provided information to the members on how to best feature
their work in photographs.
Sharon Borstein will work on a handout for the Art festival Information Booth which
would feature the work of the Artists' League.
Art Festival
The volunteer meeting for the festival will be held on Wednesday, June 6th at 6:OOPM at
Village Hall. All AC members are encouraged to attend to the meeting.
In lieu of shirts the volunteers will all have badges this year. The Jazz band will play at
the Friday night concert in Rotary Green. It was suggested that Amdur Productions
possibly send all artists an email to encourage the artists to attend the concert.
Possibly the band could feature some of the artists at intermission.
The Family Art Tent will feature only one project and that's paper bag puppets.
Chris Gibson will ask Indian Trail Library to pass out our postcards for the fest and
Sandy Greenberg will distribute the cards to the Vernon Township Library.
Public Art 2013
Jackie Matthews, of Rainbow Hospice, and Fabio of Orlandi Statuary, came to speak to
the group about their public art project for Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Mt. Prospect.
Fiberglass butterflies will be scattered through these communities ad are sponsored by
individuals, families and the business communities and then decorated by artists of
various skills. The money raised from this project will go to the children's and teens
bereavement program at Rainbow Hospice.
Jackie felt that not only is this a wonderful fundraiser but it also brings people in the
community together and is an asset to economic development.
Fabio spoke about the various projects his company has been involved in and showed
the group some of the various animals and other objects he has in inventory. The price
is based on the type of fiberglass medium used, if a mold has to be made and other
factors.
The commission members were invited to the unveiling celebration of the butterflies on
Wednesday, June 20t" at the Rainbow Hospice office in Mt. Prospect.
