Welcome
The meeting was called to order at 7:05PM.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Marilyn Alaynick to approve the minutes and seconded by Barbara
Herman. The motion was unanimously approved.
Chair Report
Linda thanked all who volunteered for the Symphonic Band Concert on Saturday, November 10
th
. Also, best wishes to Sharon Borstein who is recovering from surgery.
Art Festival
Carol reported that the Village was anticipating a new contract from Amdur Productions. The
th th
non-confirmed dates of the 2013 festival are July 13 and 14 .
Tim Beechick, of Hamilton Partners, has agreed to allow us to use the lobbies and connecting
corridor of the Riverwalk buildings for a winter art show in 2013. Carol is meeting with Amy
th
Amdur on November 27 at noon to look at the site and see if she feels a festival will work at
that location. Linda Rosen and Sandy Greenberg will join Carol and Amy for that meeting.
Members of the commission are encouraged to attend the Amdur Productions indoor art
th nd
festival to be held at the Highland Park Country Club on November 30 — December 2 . This
will give us an idea of the type of indoor show done by this company.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
The November 101h Fall Symphonic Band Concert was held at Libertyville High School.
It was a very successful concert and Howard Green, the conductor, was very pleased
with the event. A special thanks to volunteers Shari Ginsberg, Mark Andrews, Chris
Gibson, Bonnie and Len Gold and Susan Levy for taking tickets and handing out the
programs. It was noted that the one problem at the high school was access to the
facility for handicapped individuals. There were no curb cuts near the door.
The band is getting ready for their upcoming holiday performances:
Sunday, December 2, 4:00 pm Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Prospect
Heights
Sunday, December 9, 3:00 pm St. Mary Catholic Church, Buffalo Grove
Sunday, December 16, 4:00 pm Hope Lutheran Church, Long Grove - *Jazz
Band*
Wednesday, December 19, 7:00 pm Northwest Assembly of God, Mt. Prospect
Howard is requesting that we look at Wheeling, Vernon Hills and Hersey High School for
possible future performances. Possible dates for fall of 2013 would be Saturday
October 261h, November 2nd or November 91h with November 2nd the preferred date.
Lynne Schneider stated that the Heart of Buffalo Grove program would be November 23,
2013 which should not conflict with the fall concert.
Artists' League.
Carol provided Sharon Borstein's report in her absence. The last Artists' League meeting was
th
held at the Buffalo Grove Health and Fitness facility on October 29 . At that time the pieces
't
that were exhibited in their gallery since September 1 were removed. The artists that were in
attendance spoke about what they had exhibited and described their medium.
The next meeting will be held in January.
Public Art 2013
Lori Lapping said the committee will get together after the first of the year to discuss the bench
project at the Rotary Green and come back with a proposal for commission approval.
