Chair Report
th
Linda thanked all the commissioners for their participation in the 12 Annual Fine Arts Festival.
It was a well attended event and good for the community. A special thanks to the Buffalo
Grove Jazz Band for the concert at Rotary Green on the Friday night before the festival.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
The fall concert will be held on November 3, 2013, at Buffalo Grove High School.
Volunteers for this concert will be requested at the next meeting.
Artists' League.
No report.
Art Festival
th
Carol reviewed the 12 Annual Buffalo Grove Fine Arts Festival Recap 2013 with the
commissioners. Not only were comments submitted by the Arts Commissioners but also the
CRD and Joe Weiser CERT.
The following suggestions were made by the commission for the 2014 fest:
th
• A formal letter should be given to Amy Amdur at the August 27 meeting to identify the
concerns of the Arts Commission and the village.
• The Sunrise Stroll should be part of the program for 2014. The commission should try
harder to publicize this event and get more people to attend. Next year use both the
handicap shuttle and the golf cart to assist people in viewing the entire fest.
• Eliminate the volunteer meeting. Most of the volunteers have done this before and
know what to do. Possibly train new volunteers about 15 minutes prior to their volunteer
session.
• Next year divide the time requested to 3 shifts: 10:30AM-12:30PM. 12:30PM-2:30PM
and 2:30PM-4:30PM.
• Try to get high school volunteers to support the program. They were fabulous.
• Have a commission member be in charge of the Youth Artists.
Old Business

New Business
Linda asked the commission to think about its purpose and the types of programs we are
supporting. Right now we support the Symphonic Band, Artists' League and the annual art
festival. The question is do we need an Arts Commission or should these programs function
independently under the umbrella of the village. She felt in this economy it's hard to obtain
support for programs. We should look at our mission statement and decide where the
commission is headed in the next few years.
It was suggested that we reduce our meetings to once a quarter until there is more activity.
th
Laura Ander made a motion to have one meeting in the 4 quarter in October. The motion was
seconded by Lori Lapping and unanimously passed.
Village Report
No report.
Adjourn
A motion to adjourn was made by Fran Sachs and seconded by Laura Ander. The motion was
unanimously approved.
Due to conflicts the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd. Meeting
adjourned at 8:15 PM
Sincerely,
Carol Berman
