Fred introduced Lauren Stott our new Staff Liaison.
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band
Carol reported on the fall concert "Lucky 13" held on November 3, 2013, at Buffalo Grove High
School. The program was wonderful and well attended.
Holiday concert dates are:
December 8th—Buffalo Grove Jazz Band at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard 3:OOPM
th
December 11 —Buffalo Grove Jazz Band at Hope Lutheran Church 7:OOPM
th
December 15 —Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band 3:OOPM at St. Mary's Church
th
December 18 —Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band Northwest Assembly of God 7:OOPM
The subject of the band's finances was discussed. Although all the receipts are not in for the concert it
appears the band is running a deficit for 2013 and is pulling money from their reserves. After much
discussion on the issue it was suggested that at the January meeting the commission reviews their
financial situation and make recommendations on how they can increase revenue. The suggestions
would then be forwarded to the band. It's important that they know they must be self-supporting and
that there is no money in the village budget to support the band.
Artists' League.
th
Meetings will now be held at the Youth Center. At the November 19 meeting the group will
th
discuss future plans. The following meeting will be held on December16 and then in 2014 they
will be held on the third Monday of each month.
The winter show will be held in February 2014 at the Indian Trails Library. The show is now
closed to any additional artists.
Art Festival
Carol provided the group with an overview of the latest meeting with Amdur Productions The
discussion was on how to improve the sales at the fest which will draw more artists Amy
Amdur suggested that we promote Amdur Dollars, a commitment from residents and
businesses to spend "x" amount of dollars at the festival.
Gayle Pervos made a suggestion to combine the village fest with the Lincolnshire fest This will
be explored by the commission.
The commission hopes to utilize the Town Center for the 2014 fest. This will have to be
approved by the management company of Town Center and Brunswick.
Old Business
Sharon attended the Artists Network Symposium in Springfield on October17, 2013. She
provided a report to the committee on suggestions that were made by the moderators on how
to improve local art programs. She felt that the information provided was very valuable.
Great Big Little Art Show—Sharon and the committee will be meeting soon to discuss this
proposed project for the winter of 2015. Carol will see if she can obtain a commitment from
Dan Schimmel of the BG Park District to use the performing arts center for this event The
subject of partnering with a charity was discussed. Trustees Liaisons Trilling and Ottenheimer
felt that the committee was not restricted to charities in Buffalo Grove The commission was
interested in partnering with an organization that would support and bring people to the event
The committee will make a suggestion on an organization to the Arts Commission for their
approval and then the Village Board.

Village Report
Carol informed the commission of the new village app for smart phones that includes
information on government agencies in the village. This would include the park district, both
libraries and various school districts.
Carol also thanked the commission for the support she has received as staff liaison since August
of 2006. She feels confident in turning over the reins to Lauren Stott who will be the new liaison
to the commission.

A motion to adjourn was made by Lynne Schneider and seconded by Shari Ginsberg. The
motion was unanimously approved.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,January 8, 2014. There will be no December
