A RESOLUTION APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE AND
THE NORTHWEST COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois
Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has under taken a pledge to the International
Association of Chiefs of Police One Mind Campaign, which includes the requirement to have
developed a partnership with a local mental health facility — in this case, Northwest Community
Hospital; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove desires to ensure persons with known or
suspected mental illness, or who exhibit behavioral health needs related to addiction or emotional
disorders, are identified, assessed, receive care, and where necessary, are transported to an
appropriate health facility; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove wants to ensure that the Buffalo Grove Police
Department and the Northwest Community Hospital work together in a collaborative manner
with coordinated processes that address the safety of the individual, the police and staff involved
and the community and therefore have developed the attached Memorandum of Understanding.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE
COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated herein and made a part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2. The attached Memorandum of Understanding is hereby approved and the Village
President is authorized and directed to execute said Memorandum of Understanding.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after is passage and
approval as provided by law.
