A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING IMPROVEMENTS ALONG ILLINOIS ROUTE 22
BETWEEN U.S. ROUTE 14 AND U.S. ROUTE 41
WHEREAS, the reduction of traffic congestion is essential to improvement and maintenance of
the quality of life in suburban communities; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove supports the development of a quality transportation
system throughout the region in order to effectively accommodate the transportation needs of area residents and
businesses; and,
WHEREAS, many related studies have been performed documenting the need for improvements
to Illinois Route 22 but needed improvements have not yet been implemented; and,
WHEREAS, the "Illinois First" Program includes the funding for improvement of Illinois Route
22 extending from U.S. Route 14 to U.S. Route 41; and,
WHEREAS, the rapid implementation of the long awaited improvements to Illinois Route 22 is
needed and desired;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Buffalo Grove, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois as follows:
1. The Village of Buffalo Grove supports the above described improvements to Illinois Route 22.
2. The Illinois Department of Transportation and other involved agencies are encouraged to rapidly
proceed with the implementation of Illinois Route 22 improvements in order to address the
particularly severe traffic congestion which now exists in this corridor.
