A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE IMPROVEMENT OF ILLINOIS ROUTE 83
BETWEEN LAKE -COOK ROAD AND ILLINOIS ROUTE 68 (DUNDEE ROAD)
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove supports the development of a high
quality transportation system, both within the Village and throughout the region, in order to
effectively accommodate the transportation needs of area residents and businesses; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has long recognized the need to
construct five -lane improvements on Illinois Route 83 and has worked with the Illinois
Department of Transportation to previously complete five -lane improvements from Lake -Cook
Road north to U.S. Route 45; and,
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation is now widening Illinois
Route 83 from Illinois Route 68 (Dundee Road) to Palatine; and,
WHEREAS, the section of Illinois Route 83 from Lake -Cook Road to Illinois
Route 68 (Dundee Road) is a two -lane roadway which warrants a five -lane improvement, and
represents a "gap" in the five -lane improvements which will exist to both the north and the south;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois, as follows:
I. The Village of Buffalo Grove supports the completion of a five -lane
improvement along Illinois Route 83 from Lake -Cook Road to Illinois Route 68
(Dundee Road).
2. The Illinois Department of Transportation is encouraged to rapidly proceed with
the implementation of a five -lane improvement on this section of Illinois Route
83 in order to eliminate the gap in the corridor's five -lane improvements.
