1997-37♦. y �pp RESOLUTION NO. 97-. 37 IN RECOGNITION OF ST. MARY'S PARISH FORTTS 150 YEARS OF COMMITMENT TO THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE WHEREAS, the first settlers in the community which would come to be known as Buffalo Grove where largely of Catholic faith; and WHEREAS, they held their first mass 150 years ago in a farm house located at what is now the comer of Labe -Cook and Buffalo Grove Roads; and an WHEREAS, they established 145 years ago as their House of worship, the St. Mary's Church at that same site, and WHEREAS, the church facility began operating iri 185 t}iFa parish cousistin i 25 families; and WHEREAS, St. Mary's parishioners have, throughout the history of Buffalo Grove, contributed to the growth, identity and well being of the community; and WHEREAS, the parish today-'consists of over 520Y- i _e"-9*_�; and WHEREAS, on November.9, the St. Mary's Parish will rededicate both their mission and their church building and will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Eucharist in Buffalo Grove; and WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove acknowledges, respects and appreciates the contributions made by the St. Mary's Parish to the well being of the community throughout those 150 years THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, I, Sidney H. Mathias, Village President of the Village of Buffalo Grove, along with the Village of Buffalo Grove Board of Trustees, do hereby extend sincere congratulations to the St. Mary's Parish for their longstanding and successful commitment to the community and wish them continued success in their mission in Buffalo Grove.
