Commending Barbara Spence for her service to the Village of Buf j`alo Grove's
Blood Donor Commission, 1990 -1997.
Whereas, Barbara Spence has cheerfully and faithfully volunteered her time to the
Village of Buffalo Grove by serving on the Village's Blood Donor Commission from February
1990 to August 1997; and
Whereas, Barbara leaves the
_Commission in her most recent capacity as Chairwoman,
she also leaves having accomplished much .during her tenure, not the 'least of eibicb was
successfully and creatively cultivating `the message about the importance of donating blood;
and
Whereas, during the seven years. that Barbara was involved with the Commission,
2,819 people attended community blood drives donating 2,609' of blood, potentially
saving more than 7,800 lives; and
Whereas, Barbara was instrumental in getting the topic of blood donation featured on
municipal access television and helped in many other ways to foster community interest,
sponsorships and donations in support of the Commission's efforts.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois, that Barbara Spence is hereby commended
and thanked for her countless hours of effort to help make the regular donation of blood a part
Of many people's lives, an effort that ultimately and profoundly makes a "life or death"
difference.
