RESOLUTION NO. 97- 33
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF
THE 2020 REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN
VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois
Constitution of 1970; and,
WHEREAS, the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS) and the Northeastern
Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) have developed a 2020 Regional Transportation Plan
also known as Destination 2020 dated as drafted August 1997; and,
WHEREAS, said Destination 2020 Plan addresses transportation needs and recommended
improvements that are essential to maintain and enhance the region's transportation system and
economic base; and,
WHEREAS, said Destination 2020 Plan recommends implementation of important
regional transportation improvements that the Village of Buffalo strongly advocates and supports;
and,
WHEREAS, said recommended projects include improvements to Strategic Regional
Arterials (SRA's) such as Illinois Route 21, Illinois Route 22, and Illinois Route 83, construction
of the Route 53 (FAP 342) extension north of Lake Cook Road, improvements to the Tri-State
Tollway (I -94/1 -294), addition of a second track and expansion of commuter rail service on the
Metra North Central line, and enhancements to the regional bus system and bicycle and pedestrian
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois, that the Village of Buffalo Grove
supports the Destination 2020 Regional Transportation Plan dated as drafted August 1997.
