RESOLUTION No. 96- 3
IN SUPPORT OF THE EXTENSION OF ROUTE 53 FROM LAKE -COOK RD.
TO STATE ROUTE 120
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has long supported and participated in regional arterial
highway planning in northeastern Illinois, and
WHEREAS, the Village has a steadfast tradition of supporting the extension of Illinois 53,
specifically articulating this position via resolution 85 -74, passed December 16, 1985 and
resolution 88 -49, passed September 6, 1988, resolution 95 -27, passed April 17, 1995; and
resolution 95 -65 passed October 16, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the Village believes and has consistently stated that the extension northward of
Route 53 would provide the most efficient means of addressing pressing regional fe quali ty -of- -li
issues such as traffic congestion, air quality, and safety, and
WHEREAS, the Village supports the work of the Corridor Planning Council of Lake County in
working with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) on location studies which will
assure that a successful integration into the surrounding environs, and
WHEREAS, IDOT will conduct two public meetings - on January 18 at the Lake County,
Fairgrounds in Grayslake, and on January 23 at the Holiday on Route 83 in Mundelein - for the
purpose of presenting the need for an improved transportation facility, to provide a status update
of ongoing studies, and to obtain public input,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, IL, the Village of Buffalo Grove supports the
extension of Route 53 Northward from Lake -Cook Road to Illinois Route 120.
