A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A "FLYOVER RAMP" ACCESS TO THE
EDENS SPUR IN THE SOUTHWEST QUADRANT OF THE INTERSECTION OF I -294
AND LAKE -COOK ROAD
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to
the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and,
WHEREAS, continued full Edens spur access is critical to businesses and
residents in northern Cook and southern Lake Counties; and,
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees previously adopted
Resolution No. 94 -30 entitled, " A Resolution Opposing a Proposal by the
Illinois State Tollway Highway Authority to Reduce Access at the Intersection
of Deerfield Road and the Tri -State Tollway" on June 6, 1994; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has been informed that after
evaluating various considerations, the Illinois State Tollway Highway
Authority has decided to proceed with a reduction of access at the Deerfield
Road interchange with the Tri -State Tollway by the elimination of access from
the interchange to and from the Edens spur; and,
WHEREAS, the Illinois State Tollway Highway Authority is currently
evaluating alternative accesses to the Edens spur which are intended to
mitigate the elimination of access from Deerfield Road to the Edens spur via
the Deerfield Road and Tri -State Tollway interchange; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has participated in discussions of
alternative Edens spur access improvements, which discussions have been
coordinated by the TMA of Lake -Cook; and,
WHEREAS, the TMA of Lake -Cook has identified the "flyover" ramp at the
southwest quadrant of I -294 and Lake -Cook Road as the preferred location for
the Edens spur ramp; and,
WHEREAS, the "flyover" ramp at the southwest quadrant of I -294 and Lake-
Cook Road would serve the residents and businesses in and around the Village
of Buffalo Grove better than any other alternative Edens spur ramp proposals;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as
follows:
Section 1 - The "flyover ramp at the southwest quadrant of
I -294 and Lake -Cook Road" is hereby identified as Buffalo Grove's
preferred location for alternate access to the Edens spur which is
needed to mitigate the elimination of the access which has previously
existed to the Edens spur from Deerfield Road through the ramps to and
from I -294.
Section 2 - The Village President is directed to transmit a copy
of this resolution to the Executive Director of the Illinois State
Tollway Highway Authority and the Governor of the State of Illinois..
