RESOLUTION NO. 95- 36
A RESOLUTION PLACING A MORATORIUM ON THE
ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF NEW FIBER OPTIC PLANT
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has been approached by
telecommunications firms desiring to install new fiber optic transmission cable in Village-
owned rights -of -way; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has no telecommunications ordinance in
effect governing the use of municipal rights -of -way for fiber optic telecommunications
purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the Northwest Municipal Conference, along with other local councils
of government, has engaged an attorney to draft a telecommunications ordinance on
behalf of its member agencies, including the Village of Buffalo Grove; and,
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Buffalo Grove
deem it in the best interests of the Village to not issue any permits for the construction of
new fiber optic cable until a telecommunications ordinance is adopted by the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, IL that:
Section 1. The President and Board of Trustees direct staff as a matter of policy
to not issue any permits for the issuance of new fiber optic cable until a
telecommunications ordinance has been adopted by the Village.

Section 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval according to law.
