1993-44• ITLO, XI. (C) RESOLUTION NO. 93- 44 WHEREAS, Branch 5 District Court, located in the Town of Vernon, is being considered for closure; and WHEREAS, the stated aim of the Circuit Court proposal is to make the court system more convenient for local citizens and arresting police officers; and, WHEREAS, the current proposal involves consolidating the Branch Courts into two locations; and, WHEREAS, while other sites are being considered, the two primary locations appear to be Grayslake and Waukegan; and, WHEREAS, these locations are in the northern part of the County, and the only potentially convenient site for the southern end of the County would be in either Vernon Township or the southern half of Libertyville Township; and, WHEREAS a Grayslake or Waukegan location would neither fill the stated aim of making the Circuit Court system more convenient for law enforcement officials, nor, make it more convenient for citizens from the southern end of the County; and, WHEREAS, the Town of Vernon only charges the Circuit Court enough to cover its maintenance costs, an arrangement that is unlikely to be duplicated at a location in a privately held shopping mall; and, WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove's Board of Trustees recognize the need for permanent services in the southern end of the County due to the tremendous growth that this area has experienced. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IF RESOLVED by the President and Board of the Village of Buffalo Grove that the Circuit Court should reconsider its proposal to close the Branch 5 Court at its present location; that the interests of law enforcement officers and citizens from the southern end of the County should be taken into consideration in any other future proposal for Circuit Court consolidation; that until such time that the interests of south Lake County are given due consideration, the Branch Court system should not be changed; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the Clerk of the Circuit Court and all other County officials that have a role in this decision.
