2003-27tXX (Of " Grove RESOLUTION 2003 -27 A Resolution Commending Chief Leo McCann for Service To the Village of Buffalo Grove 1982 -2003 WHEREAS, Chief McCann began his career with the Buffalo Grove Police Department as Chief of Police on July 9, 1982; and WHEREAS, Chief McCann successfully directed the Buffalo Grove Police Department to Accreditation by the Commission on Law Enforcement Agencies in 1987, making the Buffalo Grove Police Department the fourth law enforcement agency in Illinois to be accredited; and r WHEREAS, Chief McCann has led the Buffalo Grove Police Department to reaccredidation in 1992, 1997 and 2002, making it one of only 30 law enforcement agencies nationwide to be continually accredited for as long; and WHEREAS, Chief McCann has led the transition from "traditional" response based policing to a community policing model, with a strong focus on problem identification and resolution; and WHEREAS, Chief McCann served and provided leadership in numerous professional and civic organizations including: Board of Trustees, Northern Illinois Police Crime Laboratory (President 2000- 2002), Executive Board, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force (Treasurer 1994- 2002), Board of Directors, Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (President 1990- 1995), Executive Board, Northwest Police Academy (Secretary 1983- 1994), Board of Directors, Regional Action Planning Project (Chairman 1998- 1999), Board of Directors, OMNI Youth Services (1994 - 2002); and WHEREAS, Chief McCann has received numerous awards and recognitions including being selected Police Officer of the Year in 1998; and _ WHEREAS, Chief McCann has served the Village, Department, Community and State with integrity, character, dedication and professionalism for over 20 years; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, IL. THAT: 1. Chief McCann is commended for his over 20 years of service to the citizens of Buffalo Grove. 2. The Village President and Board of Trustees extend their best wishes to Chief McCann for all success in his future endeavors.
