A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF GOVERNOR RYAN'S
INITIATIVES TO ENACT THE SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS ACT
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is concerned with the proliferation of illegal
firearms and its association with firearms crimes; and
WHEREAS, Governor Ryan has proposed legislation which creates a felony act for
illegal firearms possession similar to that law previously adopted by the Illinois Legislature; and
WHEREAS, The Village of Buffalo Grove believes that illegal firearms possession is a
serious act and should be considered a serious act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND
LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS that:
The membership of the General Assembly are requested to support Governor Ryan's Safe
Neighborhoods Act proposal including felony provisions for illegal firearms possession,
and this resolution will be forwarded to members of the General Assembly.
2. The Village of Buffalo Grove encourages neighboring communities to also support the
Governor's initiative.
3. The Village of Buffalo Grove encourages the Northwest Municipal Conference to pass a
resolution in support of Governor Ryan's initiatives for safe neighborhoods in Illinois.
