IIIIEREAS, the Regular and Reserve Police Personnel are now
receiving and have received sundry disability benefits, and
WIIEREA.S, it is the desire of the President and Board of
Trustees to clarify the insurance diaabillty and salary benefits
to avo id misunders tanding and mLsconstruing of some, and
I,HEREAS, it is anticipated that a petition will be filed
with the Village Clerk for a referendln requestlng that the
natter of whether the Village adopt Article 3 of the lllinois
Pension Code prior to a determination by census that the ViLlage
has a populatlon of 5,000 be placed upon the ballot.
ARTICII I.
REGUI^AR FULL TI},IE POLICE PER.SONML
Section 1. This article shall only apply to fu1l tie police
persormel, both nale and fe,nale.
Section 2. The Village will naintain in ful1 force and effect
the existlng worloen I s coryensation insuratce or a coryareble
worlenr s cotrpensati.on policy covering aIL fu1l ti.me police personnel.
ALL ruedical bills for provable service connected disability as
defined by said worl@nrs coqrensation policy or policies sha1l be
paid in accordance therewith. The decision of the worloenr s coryensation
insurance coepany with respect thereto shall be final, provided,
however, that nothing herein contained shal1 preclude the right of any
one to any clain or action before the ILLinoiB Industrial
Commission, the appropriate admlnis trati\re body, or the courtg.

The Village wilL be bound by any final decision ln connection

Section 3. In the event of a service connected disabllity, the
Village, while such dtsabtl.ity continues and for a perl.od not to
exceed one year from date of the accident, w111 pay the disabLed
lndividual his or her regular veekly take-home pay, provi.ded, there
sha1I be deducted from the pa)rrcots oade by the Village @ounts
received from Soclal Security benefits, Worlcn: s Coryensation
insurance, {uounts received pursu€nt to ArticLe 3 of the Illinols
Pension Code when the saroe becomee effectlve, and payoents (other
than medical) rnade through health and accident lnsurance, if any,
provided by the Village.
Take-hooe pay shall be coryuted on a 40 hour a week basis.
A certification by a redical exaoiner for the worlenr s coryensation
lnsurer thet a person is able to return to work shall be prina
facle evi.dence of the sare. The disabled lndividual shaLl be
requlred to subnit to a medical exoinatlon by a physician selected
by the Village and upon the request of the Vl11age. In the event
the disabLed person receives a 1rry settleoent from Ehe worlenr s

Section 4. A11 lnjuries resulting from service shall be reported
to the Chief of Pollce in writlng withln 48 hours after the injury.
Failure to report aee and the denial of liabillty by the worlenrs
coryensation insurer as a result of sc sha11 relLeve the Village
from any paJments rmder Section 2 aod 3 hereof; provided that in
the e\rent the Industrial Comission of Ehe SEate of lllinois or a
final coutt decislon (as the case m,y be) orders payrcnt, then the
liability of the Village under Sections 2 and 3 hereof shall be
fixed accordingly.

Section 5. flre normal work day of police personnel sha1l
consist of I hours per day, exclusive of l-unch periods, and the
normal \^rork week shal1 consist of 5 days. Each police personnel
sha1l be entitled to one day vacation for each ful1 month worked
up to ltay lst of any year, to a maximum of ten days. Police
personnel with more than one year but less than ten years contin-
uous servl_ce shall, as of their anniversary date, receive 2 weeks
vacati-on. Police personnel with 10 or more years continuous ser-
vice shalI receive 3 weeks vacation. Vacations shall be assigned

RESERVE POLICE PERSONNEL
Section 1. This Article shall apply only to Reserve Police
Personnel, male and female.
