OF TRANSPORTATION CONCERNING THE IL. RT. 83 (BUFFALO GROVE ROAD TO ARLINGTON
HEIGHTS ROAD) STREET II'{PROVEHENT
WHEREAS, the Village desires to see needed improvements implemented
to the extent available funding allows on I1. Rt.83 between Buffalo Grove
Road and Ar1 ington Heights Road; and,
WHEREAS, a Letter of Understanding with the Illinois Department of
Transportation is a prerequisite for proceeding with a currentl.y funded
project which wiil build the initial phase of the required inprovements on
this section of Il. Rt. 83; and,
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation has proposed a
draft Letter of Understanding and is agreeable to making five (5) changes
which were requested on behalf of the Village b.y its staff;

of Trustees of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois
as fol I ows:
I. The Letter of Understanding as proposed by the Illinois
Department of Transportation and subsequently amended
in five (5) locations during discussions with Vitlage Staff
is hereby approved.
?. The Village President is authorized and directed to execute
the amended Letter of Understanding, a cop.y of which is
attached hereto and made a part hereof.

The State is desirous of improving approximately 4979 lineal feet of
IlLinois Route 8f from Famington Drive to Arlington Heights Road in the
Village of Buffalo Grove, Lake County, Illinois (F.A.P. Route 872,Illimls Route 83, State Section: 44ytRS-84) by making the following
lmprovements :
Illinois Route 8l - from Farrington Drive to Arlington lEights:
Roadway widening to provide one 12r through traffic lane in each
direction complete with 8r shoulders (f' bituminous/5' aggregate),
increase the length of left turn storage lane at Checker Road/Busch
Road, reestablish the existing ditch drainage system, complete
resurfacing throughout including thermoplastic pavement marking, and
by performing all other work necessary to complete the lmprovement in
accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
In order that the State and Village may benefit by this proposed
improvement, we are requesting concurrence with the following:
1. The State wlll make all surveys, prepare plans and specifications,
receive bids and award the contract, furnish engineering inspection
during construction and cause the improvement to be built in
accordarce with the plans, specifications and contract. The Statewill pay for all surveys, construction and engineeiing costs.
2. Upon final field inspection of the lmprovement:
The State will maintain along l11inois Route 8l within the limits ofthe lmprovement, the median, the through traffic lanes, the left-turn
