Buffalo Grove adopted personnel rules by passlng Resolutlon 84-43; and,
I.IITEREAS, Sectlon 23.02 of the Personnel Rules provldes for their
anendment by a najorlty vote of the Corporate Authoritles; and,
WI{EREAS, certaLn amendments to the Personnel Rules are requLred to
brlng the Rules into conpllance rrith the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938,
as anended:

overtime work, except in case of emergency.
A.Eligibility. A11 regular employees sha1l be eligible
for overtime coupensation. Compensation for overtime
may be in the forn of preuium pay or compensatory time
off. The Vlllage Manager sha11 designate the form of
overtiEe conpensation available to each class of work
in the nuniclpal servi-ce, conslstent wlth the Fair
Labor Standards Act of 1938, as amended.
B.Overtine Hours. Overtj-me hours sha11 be computed and
pald in increments of one quarter of an hour. Overtime
amounts of seven (7) minutes or less ln a fifteen (15)
minute perlod shall not be compensable. Overtime
amounts of elght (8) minutes or more in a fifteen (15)
minute period sha11 be counted and paid as fifteen
(15) ninutes of overEime.

E.CompensaEory Tine.Enployees exempt from the Falr Labor
Standards Act of 1938, as auended, shall be awarded com-
pensatory tine off on an hour per hour basls for over-
tlDe hours worked. Accrual of compensatory time is
permitted, but there shal1 be no corDpensation paid for
compensatory time earned but not taken. Use of conpen-
satory time must be approved by the department head or
V1llage Manager. Use of compensatory time shal1 not
be approved if absence from work will cause impalrment
to the perfornance of the departnent or Village.
Section 2. That Section 10.01 of Chapter 10.00 of Ehe Buffalo Grove
Personnel Rules is hereby arnended to read as follows:
10.01 - Hours of Work.

Regular worklng hours for clerlcal and secretarlal
employees shal,l be thirty-seven and one-half (371)
hours in seven consecuti.ve days fron Monday through
the Sunday following.
Regular working hours for fire protection personnel
covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as
amended, shall be two-hundred and twelve (212) hours
in a twenty-eight (28) day work period.
Regular working hours for Iaw enforcement personnel
covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as
amended, shall be one-hundred seventy-one (I7l)
hours in a twenty-elght (28) day work perlod.
