A RESOLUT]ON COMIUENDING THE EFFORTS OF VERNA L. CLAYTONIN SI'PPORT OT'RTA REFORM LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, Comprehensive and coordinated public transportation
is vital to the economic well being of the public by improving
access to jobs, schools and commercial sites; and
WHEREAS, Public transportation is also essentlal to the
public health and welfare in that it aids in the conservation
of dwindling energy supplies and reduces air pollution by
alleviating traffic congestion; and
WIIEREAS, the recent passage of House Bill 1805 by the Illinois
General Assembly has provided improved methods of management of
the Regional Transportation Authority and has prevented the
financial collapse of said Authority; and
WHEBEAS, President Verna L, Clayton has contributed a significant
amount of her val-uab1e time and energy in working in support of
this RTA legislation; and
WHEREAS, Presldent Clayton's actions demonstrate her strong
commitment to RTA reform in order to insure that the public will
continue to enjoy the benefits of public transportation;
NOlf, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLYED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
TTIE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,
AS FOLLOIYS:
Section 1: That the Board of Trustees would tike to formally
thank President Verna L. Clayton for all her efforts in support
of the passage of the RTA Legislation.
