1983-06-27 - Resolution 1983-21 - THAT THE LAKE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT NOT CLOSE SCHAEFFER ROAD MAKING ACCESS TO TH BUFFALO CREEK FOREST PRESERVE MORE DIFFICULT RESOLUTION NO. 83- 21
(Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve)
WHEREAS, the Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve is adjacent to and will serve
residents of the Village of Buffalo Grove; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove was involved in the initial stages of
the land acquisition and has contributed $15,000 towards this
purpose; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove shares maintenance responsibility
for a portion of the site; and,
WHEREAS, there is sufficient population in the area to require a picnic
and active use area; and,
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is desireous of providing easy and
efficient access to the site for area residents; and,
WHEREAS, it is the Village's understanding that part of the development
plan includes the closing of Schaeffer Road; and,
WHEREAS, Hicks Road has already been closed; and,
WHEREAS, closing Schaeffer Road will make access to the site for the general
public more difficult thereby creating a disservice to the people
who would most like to use this site; and,
WHEREAS, closing Schaeffer Road will further impede the Long Grove Rural
Fire Protection District from serving properties to the south of
the Forest Preserve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the Lake County Forest Preserve District not
close Schaeffer Road at Lake-Cook Road.
Section 2. That the Lake County Forest Preserve District provide
some active use areas on the site for picnicking and recreational
activities.
