1981-53 RESOLUTION NO. 81- 53 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FULL INTERCHANGE AT LAKE-COOK ROAD AND THE TRI-STATE TOLLWAY WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has joined with other munic- ipalities in the area in order to encourage the Illinois Toll Highway Authority to construct an interchange at Lake-Cook Road and the Tri-State Tollway, and WHEREAS, The Illinois Toll Highway Authority contracted with Wilbur Smith and Associates to undertake a study examining the feasibility of such an interchange, and WHEREAS , said study, dated November 17, 1980, indicated that a full interchange would pay for itself by the year 1999, if construction were com- pleted in 1982, and WHEREAS, said study further recommended that this interchange should be re-evaluated in future years in order to determine if conditions may change making it able to pay for itself at an earlier date, and WHEREAS, the construction of this interchange will increase accessi- bility to and from Buffalo Grove thereby improving marketability for commercial and industrial growth, especially when combined with the proposed extension of Illinois Route 53 to Lake-Cook Road, and WHEREAS, the interchange will not use any of the areas Federal Aid Urban (FAU) or Federal Aid Primary (FAP) funds , and WHEREAS, the interchange will reduce traffic on other routes thereby reducing improvement needs and allowing available funds to be used for other necessary road projects , and WHEREAS, the interchange will serve as an added convenience to resi- dents in our area, and WHEREAS, Lake-Cook Road is designed to handle the traffic which will be generated. -2- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows : SECTION 1 . That the Illinois Toll Highway Authority continue to retain the Lake-Cook Road interchange in the prioritized listing of inter- changes to be constructed. SECTION 2. That the Illinois Toll Highway Authority is requested to periodically re-evaluate the priority ranking of the Lake-Cook Road interchange in order to determine if this proposed interchange has moved to a higher status in the priority ranks.
