1981-53 RESOLUTION NO. 81- 53
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A FULL INTERCHANGE AT LAKE-COOK ROAD AND THE
TRI-STATE TOLLWAY
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove has joined with other munic-
ipalities in the area in order to encourage the Illinois Toll Highway
Authority to construct an interchange at Lake-Cook Road and the Tri-State
Tollway, and
WHEREAS, The Illinois Toll Highway Authority contracted with Wilbur
Smith and Associates to undertake a study examining the feasibility of such
an interchange, and
WHEREAS , said study, dated November 17, 1980, indicated that a full
interchange would pay for itself by the year 1999, if construction were com-
pleted in 1982, and
WHEREAS, said study further recommended that this interchange should
be re-evaluated in future years in order to determine if conditions may change
making it able to pay for itself at an earlier date, and
WHEREAS, the construction of this interchange will increase accessi-
bility to and from Buffalo Grove thereby improving marketability for commercial
and industrial growth, especially when combined with the proposed extension
of Illinois Route 53 to Lake-Cook Road, and
WHEREAS, the interchange will not use any of the areas Federal Aid
Urban (FAU) or Federal Aid Primary (FAP) funds , and
WHEREAS, the interchange will reduce traffic on other routes thereby
reducing improvement needs and allowing available funds to be used for other
necessary road projects , and
WHEREAS, the interchange will serve as an added convenience to resi-
dents in our area, and
WHEREAS, Lake-Cook Road is designed to handle the traffic which will
be generated.
