OBJECTION TO PROPOSED SIGN AMENDMENTS TO THE COOK
COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove through adoption of its Zoning
Ordinance and Sign Code has established signage regulations and standards, and
WHEREAS, said regulations and standards recognize the need to protect
the safety and welfare of the public, the need for well maintained and attractive
appearance in a community, the need for adequate business identification and
advertising and communication, and the need for promotion of aesthetic values , and
WHEREAS, said regulations and standards are intended to promote aesthetic
values through guidelines formulated to minimize clutter, ensure that signs are
compatible with their surroundings , and to promote the amenable environment desired
by Village residents , and
WHEREAS, testimony was given at the September 23, 1981 , meeting of the
Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals in support of a proposed amendment to the Cook
County Zoning Ordinance that would increase signage area up to 160 percent under
certain conditions , and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove finds the installation of signs
of the sizes proposed to be allowed by amendment of the Cook County Zoning Ordinance
in unincorporated areas of the County to be inconsistent with the goals of the
Village and the desires of its residents , and
WHEREAS , the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals will accept written ob-
jections to the proposed amendment until November 4, 1981 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, that:
The Village of Buffalo Grove goes on record as opposing the proposed sign
amendments to the Cook County Zoning Ordinance.
